Adequate back up. One would hope we get another RB who slots into first 11

I do really hope that hendrie is the back up at right back he was steady away but like many said we need better, the spine of the team now needs to be of much higher quality

Length of that deal for Hendrie screams first choice to me. Hope I'm wrong.

That’s just the very nature of contracts these days. Rarely do you see 1 year deals offered, unless it’s to a journeymen or a player who is injury prone.

Oscar, I believe, will have his contract mutually terminated shortly. This leaves space for another RB - preferably in the mould of someone like Callum Johnson.

There’s a bit of chat on the Summer Transfers thread but no new thread for Luke’s new deal.

A decent signing - people seem to want him as backup, but he’s a solid 1st choice RB for me. He’s been excellent since he came back and played very well in the dozen of so games at the end of the season.

On another note, it looks like the 1903 Club emails have stopped.

Not overly excited about this one. A reasonable squad member who can play a few positions but not one that fills me with any great confidence that we're finally top 3 challengers.

Good squad player. Would have no problem with him being a starter of his form was good. Never lets us down. Just the three amigos to go now. Of those, in order, I would be most worried about Vernham leaving and least about POC.

I think Hendrie signing is a good piece of management, look back when we first got him at times he was one of the few that had any fight in him in a badly managed team, he certainly pushes forward and tries and some of his crosses into the box were fantastic.
    Good call Mark.

What would excite you. Bale , Erikson, Ronaldo. We finished mid table in the bottom league. I would be surprised if we signed any big names. More a case of looking for gems or improving the lads we have.

Most people seem to share your opinion despite the fact that POC was our most consistent player

Happy with Hendrie, we looked far more balanced and solid when he came in for Threlkeld it was night and day and he got a few assists. I’d like better as first choice but as a squad player I doubt he’d weaken us when called upon unlike our options last year especially pre January. There won’t be many better number 2 RB’s in this league or above imo.

I wouldn't disagree with that, but a good centre half is easier to find than a good defensive midfielder or winger. Not saying they are ten a penny, but he is easier to replace than the other two and despite being consistent he was carried a lot by Songo'o at times. Replace him with someone like Mark Beevers and no-one will be that bothered that he;s gone.

The players started to show what they are capable of towards the end of the season.
They had almost a year of being battered by the dour scot.
Nothing to say they will have a good season next up, but nothing to say they wont under a better coach and a few tweaks.

    Think you are wrong.

Think we just want to build a squad for the next two years. Meaning that not every season we have to get in about 10 new players.

Going down the Liverpool route looking to improve players not just signing and hoping they will be a star like a Man City.

We’ll hopefully be signing better players in the next few days/weeks.

You do realise Hendrie is 27 and at this stage of his career has never consistently held down a place in a football league side? He's really not going to improve much beyond where he is already.

I've said he's a decent squad member and may well be first choice if he performs well but I'm sorry if that upsets the claret and Amber tinted posters on here, this signing doesn't get me excited.

    Feeling ok today darling!

I would be upset if we don't sign better players soon. Damn, I am back to normal now lol
