Not seen a thread on this - but posted on BCAFC site, Luca has signed an initial 12 month contract, and is expected to feature in mid-field, tonight.

Certainly needed another body in there, no idea what he's like though. And pre season means nothing to me before anyone says he was fantastic/shit.

Bradford City have completed the signing of trialist Luca Colville.

Colville has agreed an initial one-year deal and is in contention to feature this evening – when the Bantams travel to face Macclesfield Town in the Carabao Cup first round (kick-off 7.45pm).

The midfielder scored a superb goal in City's pre-season clash with neighbours Bradford Park Avenue and featured against Carlisle last month, having spent the 2017/18 season with Huddersfield Town.

Bantams head coach Michael Collins believes Colville has a bright future ahead and is delighted to have secured his services.

Collins said: “Luca is a young player, who has plenty of potential.

“During the pre-season campaign, he impressed us with his decision making on the ball and has shown real quality which belies his years.

“Luca's desire to earn a contract has been extremely refreshing and we feel he comes in and adds something different to the group.”

He did okay in pre-season, kept it neat and tidy so maybe worth a shot

Sounds to me like we need more bodies but the pot is now empty. Pre season reports and previous musings from Town and Forest have me edging more towards a rafa de vita more than a Jamie Lawrence type player

The pot of money for possible loans or free agents, I'd suggest it's empty due to the likes of Scannell Akpan, Payne and Doyle

Oh right, so this was just simply an observation? It’s just, you sounded very certain that we had no money, that’s all.

You would think it would include a option to extend the contract for a further 12 months. Other clubs use this mechanism to retain players they want to keep.

A two way 'deal' I suppose. ?? The contract is 'initial' - so either party can walk away.
If he demonstrates his potential ........ I would expect an extension offered in January. :)

Catch 22 isn’t it though? He gets a contract and is garbage we are stuck with him for 3 years

Or make him work for a new deal and probably clauses where it’s auto extended If he plays x amount of games

What was he like in preseason games ?
Is he an attack minded midfielder ?

Average, but hard working, and can see, and direct a sweet shot.
I can see why City are giving him the chance though. :)

We gave Patrick a 3 year contract and look how shi&e he is now.

Happy this is just 1 year and will more than likely include an chance to extend.

Where does he play - where did he come from?
Nice first name tho. Foreign sounding players always sound like they have potential!

Foreign sounding players are so over-rated. For every Edinho, there is a Bruno Rodriguez! For every Gunnar Halle, there is a Kai Bru ;)

Looked organised and liked to go forward with the ball which seems a rarity in todays football. One of the better players in what was a pretty poor preseason.
