I think you'll find they've been deemed the greatest team of all time by the BT Sport punditry team (of former LIverpool players).

Truly the only honour that counts.

Pool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs all looking busy this window. Players signed, others incoming.

Man Utd lost about 10 players and done absolutely nothing so far. They look utterly hopeless. Currently haggling over an extra £10m for De Jong. Will go on forever that one.

Man Utd needed a full clear out. Players existing on their own self hype. They were awful last season. It will take a few transfer windows to put that club right.

Sounds familiar on a smaller scale, can take years to get it right.

When this question was asked at the back end of last season it was touch and go to which of the two sides were the better team. Liverpool narrowly missed out to Man City in the league and both teams were dumped out of the Champions League by the eventual champions.

Man City scored 99 goals in the league last season without an out and out striker and it was clear that a missing a proper goalscorer was the reason the tie against Real Madrid wasn't put to bed in the first leg.

Now they have that proper goalscorer in Haaland who already has 10 goals in 6 premier league games (Last seasons golden boot had 23 all season) and 2 goals in the their champions league game, he appears to be the missing piece in their quest for the champions league.

Watching the game last night Haaland was a constant threat and scored another goal from inside the 6 yard box and then was on hand to knock in a rebound that last year would probably have seen no Man City player pouncing on.

Barring injury I just can't see how any team will compete with Man City over the course of this season. As for personal goalscoring records, that is probably down to how much Pep decides to allow him to play. Last night and previously he has taken him off with ample time for Haaland to score a hat-trick without batting an eyelid.

Beyond that Liverpool are struggling in midfield where they are playing Milner a player deemed surplus to requirements at Man City years ago, where as Man City are bring on KDB and Mahrez when they are 5 nil up to see out games, Phillips even got some game time last night to see out the win in Seville such is the depth of their bench.

A midfield of Elliott, Fabinho and Milner isn't even midtable premier league.

The Newcastle result they got a few weeks back papered over so many cracks.

Man City started with KDB, Rodri and Bernardo Silva, they ended the game with Phillips, Gundogan and Mahrez.

At the moment Liverpool look so exposed after a few injuries and Salah like Son for Spurs look a shadow of the players they were last year.

They miss Mane, and the rest side of the side is aging. A high intensity side that's all of a sudden now based around players who are 31/32. They need a rebuild. And in any event, City are now streets ahead. 2 top class players for every position and a blank cheque book to keep adding. Financial doping has ruined the game really.

Not true. Man City would love to win the CL. Let's not be fooled here. It's the hardest competition to win after the World Cup.

Problem with the league is that only Liverpool can really beat City and one or few others on there day. Liverpool lost the league by failing to beat City over 2 games. That's it.

Considering the amount of money City have spent they should be winning the league by miles.

I think that 1-11 LFC are probably slightly better than MCFC but the strength in depth of City's squad is just unbelievable which gives them the edge over LFC across a whole season.

Spurs got to the Champions League final, that should be enough to strengthen the position of the league. Also in the league you have to be consistently good, not just good when it Matters (Chelsea last year)

We got to a cup final, we beat Chelsea in the FA Cup, Cups throw up these results, the league rarely ends up with the best team not on top.

If the Champions League was a league format with the best in Europe home and away it would always end up with the best team on top. In its current format you can't suggest that Chelsea were the best team in Europe last season, they were just good when it mattered.

Two fantastic teams that will long be remembered,
City just shade it in the League but i reckon they would love to get the CL monkey off their back
and Liverpool to win more than one league title in thirty years but football can be a funny old game,

But the Reds are still going for a cup treble which has been done how often from an English team?
One league title versus three cups, to be Frank i might have to disagree on who is the better team this season.

Will change next time out with Haaland's arrival

I think this has been the case over the past 3/4 years, however I'd disagree now. City's bench regularly has only 3 players who can come on and change the game and the rest are kids, whereas anyone on Liverpool's now is an established first teamer. Klopp has done very well to build the team he has, but only has 1 league title to show for it.

The thing that will stretch the gap further isnt so much the signing of Haaland, its the move to 5 subs.

Liverpool made 9 changes yesterday and won.

How come City haven't won it then. That isn't true at all.

And were very fortunate to win. They created very little and the winning goal was a huge slice of fortune.

Man City were lucky not to concede a pen against Everton. PL matches have luck also.

The best teams in the world are still in the CL. Harder to play Barcelona than Burnley mate.
