Well done to the England Women's football team winning a first trophy out in the states, they look a determined squad with an excellent captain in Steff Houghton, World cup next up. Could we?

No. These are mickey mouse tournaments that mean very little. Remember we won Le Tournoi in 1997 but that didn't see is win France 98. They are less pressured especially as there is no knockout stage

Well ,last time out the Lionesses reached the semi-final of the World Cup, so yes they could go a step further and no it would not be that big of a shock, except that phil neville is their manager.
It is hoped the lasses dont pay too much attention to him.

Yes what does he know about football?
10 years as a professional with Manchester United, during which time he won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, three FA Charity Shields, the Intercontinental Cup and the Champions League,

USA show the potential. Because its fairly new they don't have to compete against existing stigmas etc, hence why its massively successful over there. We are just comparing it to the mens game unfairly

... but the quality is awful. bordering on amateur. That's why viewing figures are so low.

I don’t think it does as it has a real money problem. The cost of running a women’s team is increasing much faster than the revenues. They are driving the teams who spent decades building the sport out by trying to force it to grow and its going to end up with massive money issues.

And its never going to be a good product either until they sort out keepers. It doesn't require the outfield players to improve at a rate they should be as female keepers are awful. It would almost be better if they allowed an unattached male keeper to play in womens teams

I'd be the " unattached male keeper" ... as long as I get to share the bath/shower afterwards .

Haha those adverts were awful. Would have picked someone with better hair than Hart to do a shampoo advert.

I can't see that. It'll grow slowly, then plateau not far above where it is now - it'll never be mainstream.

For a long time, its been a girls sport as much as boys. In fact, back in the 80s, it was more popular with young girls than boys as a school sport.

It doesn’t need to be mainstream to be huge. I think there will be lots of parents out there who want their daughters being involved in team sports and the benefits this brings.

Especially in the US where they can earn up to half a million dollars a season
