I'd go with that. Assuming he retains the same attitude and desire he certainly looked like he had the skill set to be competitive at that kind of level.

Some of my Huddersfield mates went to watch Town's last serious friendly against Montpelier. None had seen O'brien play before and were all impressed and said on that showing they can see him starting Championship matches. Apparently on the Town forum he has been likened to a young Paul Scholes.......might just be the ginger hair and sticky out ears. He seems to have surprised a few of their fans.

He must feel nothing has changed, still best player on the pitch for the dogs, losing and sacking the manager.

I too thought Burke would have got a gig in the premiership, to be fair to Cullen he is playing at a very good level and will more than likely end up back in the premier league. As for O'Brien it was clear very early on the lad had the talent to go all the way as the lad covers a lot of bases in terms of core skill, unbelievable workrate, can play deep or further forward, can set up and score and has a good range of passing. Only weakness is he's predominantly one footed but the reputed £10 million price tag is a relative bargain these days.

At Huddersfield because he's signed a 3 year deal?

Tried to sort of compare him to Cullen and I think Cullen probably has a little bit more than O'Brien but definitely not too much of a huge difference between the two.

Genuinely not sure what games you watched if all you saw was O'Brien and Caddis run about...

Let me put it on you, what exactly did O’Brien and Caddis contribute to last season’s debacle?

Caddis our best defender and O'Brien our best midfielder...

Caddis was a liability at the end of the season - didn’t he give away 3 pens during his time here. He came in and sured things up - being the vocal, strong character type. Had Mellor been fit, he wouldn’t have got a look in - hence his release.

O’Brien was best of the rest in midfield. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do you think Town would have offered a 20 year old O'Brien a three year deal with an option for a further year if he hadn't just had a season like he's had with us?

Given the terms he’s likely been offered are a no brainier for him to accept, and the fact that Huddersfield have plenty of coin in the bank - it’s a no brainer for them to invest in their youth furthermore for what is, effectively, pennies.

    This is nothing new.
