I’m being facetious, just for a change.

I’ve no idea how this kid will do. And as with all signings, we should reserve judgement on the player will we’ve seen them play a few games.

My problem isn’t with him, or even the signing, as such.

My problem is with pissing money up the wall on a development squad, at the expense of a stronger first team, and then signing 19 and 20 year olds like Miller and O’Brien.

If our own 19/20 years in the development squad aren’t good enough to play 5-10 games, some from the bench, then what’s the point.

It’s not rocket science. Get a core of 16-18 strong and experienced first team players, and supplement it with 7-8 younger fringe players who’ll naturally be exposed to first team football through injuries, suspensions and opportunities from the bench.

As with everything we do, even a misguided strategy isn’t implemented properly.

Its no wonder we’re a clusterf*ck.

 

Funny thing is if Collins had turned out too be a tactical genius and we were 5 wins from 5, people would probably be welcoming him with open arms. Probably nothing to do with him all the negativity, so it's a shame he's getting flack before a ball is kicked but some just don't have a rational brain to separate different issues.

 

If Colville and O’Brien relegate Akpan and Wright to the bench, after 6 games, I’ll piss myself.

 

Happy to give the lad a chance. There wasn't much fuss over the likes of Burke, Cullen & Guy when they initially joined but they turned out ok. He has a chance to establish a place because none of the central midfielders have performed thus far. It doesn't seem out of the question that O'Brien & Colville would start ahead of Akpan & Wright soon enough.

As @bantam2708 says though, it doesn't look great on the "strategy". Is that it for Reeves? It also pushes Devine, Hawkes & Peters further away from a break.

 

Let's give the lad a chance for godsake.
I would rather have enthusiastic kids on board than the likes of Akpan who is either very unfit or gives the impression tbat he couldn't give a toss.

The point I'm making is the lad is taking stick because of performances which took place before he came in, if the same player came in and we were top the same people would be saying something totally different. Not sure what's odd about that point? The management been a shambles isn't this kids problem.

 

The lad may be good but what does this say for our so called philosophy? We have a 19yr old midfielder of our own who has scored half of our goals this season and O'Brien is likely to take his place. Do we even have a strategy anymore?

Disgraceful ,don't mind we give our club or management criticism but the young lad is out of order.

 

19 year old just out of the Hudders academy. Mickey (Mouse) Collins take a bow - no doubt the final piece of the jigsaw that makes up our 2021/22 National League promotion winning side.

 

Whatever mess we are in, we should not be giving this lad grief; he is here to try and improve our team and his own career. Yes we needed players in key positions in our squad and I really wanted a striker, but let’s see if he can make a difference.

Who knows, maybe we have an option to sign after his loan spell? Lets be honest he'll bring, like Gibson and Colville, more drive and enthusiasm than our current midfield 2.

 

More realistic is he will be dross.

 

I will give the lad a chance nobody knew much about Burke Cullen or guy all 3 would have been welcome back. The problem is we are so lightweight upfront it's scary and that's what should have been addressed.

 

I don’t think it’s a matter of not giving the lad a chance. I just think overall it’s nowhere near enough activity in this window.......yet again! Lessons learned my arse.
