When our kids were growing up we spent a lot of time in Javea too. I believe Terry Venables had a house there too. Before proper mobiles and thr proper internet, i have a photo of me by the pool holding up the back page of a 2 day old paper with the aforementioned 2-0 defeat of Chelsea splashed across it. PS my father in law also worked most of his life at AE Turbines!

In his book I think he refered to Bradford City Football Club as the "dog & duck" he did help us to get promoted but it was never going to be a long term situation as his dad said Paul Jewell didn't fancy him as a team player.Wakefield Bantam likes this. -

I've always thought we missed a trick with Lee Sharpe. He had a couple of games in central midfield and really showed his class. I remember one away win at Barnsley when he absolutely ran the game and looked on a whole different level from everyone else on the pitch. He then was never used in that position again and ended up leaving. I couldn't understand that, when he still had so much to offer.

What a player Lee Sharpe was.
He played in our best ever League performance at home v Chelsea in the first home game of our second season in the Prem.
Fergie always said he was the best crosser he had ever worked with and it was his cross that Windass scored from for our second goal.
Unfortunately he is on record as saying he hated his time here as it was such a poor contrast to Old Trafford.
I agree we missed a trick by not playing him in centre midfield after Hutchins left but I dont think his head was in it by that time. -
Holidayed at a villa for many years in Benitachell and used to dine out in Javea or Xàbia as it is known to the locals every night.
During his short spell at City I got to know his dad pretty well after a short exchange of views at the Wolves game were his Brummie family were sat directly behind us and we exchanges a few comments as with regards his lad, we met occasionally at away games and had a beer together until he left for Portsmouth, cracking fella was his dad. -
Don’t have that many “bad” memories of Lee Sharpe playing for City - I thought generally he did a decent job for us. The odd bad game, but who doesn’t?

Lee Sharpe on City, “If I could change one thing, I'd maybe not have signed for Bradford as the club was in a bit of shambles, but the lads were great”. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news/an-email-conversation-with-lee-sharpe-during-one-close-season-i-was-sober-for-three-days-6109263.html
