It’s difficult to see how football, as we know it, will ever be the same. If L1/2 clubs can’t afford to play BCD now, how can they afford it when any new season may start and after many months of no income?
I’d imagine players with or without contracts being jettisoned just to try and survive. But even without players/staff there are fixed costs to be paid just like any other business.
As for Stevenage, I do wonder if the EFL know that Macc will fold which would take up the relegation spot. God knows why L2 clubs want no relegation anyway.
We’ve, apparently, been promoted - yay! But that means nothing if a whole host of clubs go bust and whatever rump of EFL clubs that remain are shoehorned into some sort of viable league set up. I have no idea on out finances - we could just as likely fold as any other club.
It’s the money from thePL - the solidarity payments - that has caused a lot of financial trouble at clubs now. It had been, understandably, relied upon to the detriment of progressing their club from within and cutting their cloth accordingly. Chickens coming home to roost now, though.
If clubs survive by mothballing until the game can restart with fans, where is any club going to have the money to recruit entirely from scratch? The standard of football in the lower leagues will be dire in the short term as only cheap and cheerful players can be signed.
Anyway, let’s hope we can all at least survive in the meantime. Good luck!

You can't have winners without losers in sport. Relegation must happen.

How can Stevenage not be relegated when they have been deadful for over 3/4 of the season. It's also not fair on non league clubs. At least 2 clubs should be promoted from non league.
How can Bolton not be relegated when they have broken the rules.
I said this voting system doesn't work in this country. Leaders need to lead and make tough decisions. This trying to please everyone doesn't work. I haven't watched football for most of the season not to see teams promoted or relegated.
The FA need to be strong and stick to what was said but they need to come out next week to make sure everyone understands relegation is happening for Stevenage and others.Stop hovering to collapse... Well, if there is relegation Stevenage might want a word as with the Macclesfield points deduction they are only 3 points behind and a game in hand.
Without any financial inducement why should Stevenage accept their fate, they can mount their great escape.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bronco likes this. -

If you wanted to purchase a new house in the present climate you wouldn't offer the sellers the price they are asking you would expect some sort of compromise, but you certainly couldn't blame the seller for asking what might be over the odds to most buyers.Fordy117 likes this. -
BBC have been reporting it for a while but say that FA need to ratifying it and there hasn’t been an official confirmation of this

Clubs have voted for no relegation. I wonder if the EFL will agree?

Surely it depends on what League One decide whether there can be promotion or not?
In my opinion they should just void Leagues One and Two, no promotion or relegation, with no relegation from the Championship either, one team comes up from the National League to replace Bury. -

What I don't understand is why leagues 1+2 aren't bound by one decision? They both have the same boss so to speak.
