I like that. I like claret and amber, but l am not stuck on stripes. But l don't like it when we have a predominantly claret or amber kit, the former is wank and the latter dismal like Northampton, they only work together.

No, I get that fans don’t buy it because they expect their team to play in it. But likewise, they don’t buy it with a 4mth shelf-life.

Many fans will buy one as an alternative to the home and away shirts and would wear to the away games (or even to home games). But they’d still hope to get more than a handful of wears from it before the end of the season, especially at £45 a pop

But I don't know anyone that buys it because it's this seasons kit - they buy it because they like the look of it. A kit doesn't go out of date it can be worn indefinately can't it? Look at Man Utd, Juventus and Real etc, they all release third kits, and not always at the start of the season.

Does anybody really give a crap about a third kit?

If nobody “really gives a crap about a third kit”, why are we even discussing the possibility of it being released at all?

I will buy the home shirt most seasons (unless really bad) and I will wear it a minimum of 23 times. It then goes into a pile I use when playing 5 a-side. The only times I have bought the 3rd kit was instead of the hideous home kit for that season. It still got the same number of wears.

Because people buy it because they like the look of it, not because they care about it! I feel like I'm going round in circles, it's a revenue gaining product that would more than likely gain more revenue released ready for Christmas, not much more to it than that.

Well, it’s crazy to me, but then I’ve seen the kinds of presents people buy these days, with the average household spending £2500 on Christmas a fair few people could manage the £45.

That average may be across the country, but I’d be surprised if the average Bradfordian household spends £2500 on Christmas. Forty-five pounds in most households wouldn’t be a stocking filler

hearing the kit is going to be announced mid-june along with the unveiling of three new signings (currently on holiday, so can’t put pen to paper until back), each modelling one of the three new home, away and third kits.

also hearing that the design of the new home kit is going to be a tribute to the 20th anniversary of avoiding relegation from the premier league so expect claret shorts and amber socks along with ‘wide stripes’ on the home shirt with a big collar. a tribute will be made to the wetherall goal with ‘12’ on one sleeve marking the minute he scored the winner in with ‘36’ on the other; the number of points we got to stave off relegation with ‘1999-2000’ underneath the fold of the collar.
