True, players do sometimes clutch their face or head following a collision, and feign a head injury when none has occurred.
But they can only really get away with that when there is some sort of upper body contact between players that makes it look vaguely plausible.
They wouldn't get away with it following an obviously front on, foot to foot, tackle. They would be seriously risking a booking for simulation if they tried to claim a head injury in those circumstances.
There are also many other instances of players going down with feigned cramp or muscle pulls etc when there are no opposition players anywhere near them, purely to break up the opposition's momentum and/or waste time. If everyone followed Bristol City's example then that type of gamesmanship would drastically reduce, or stop altogether, because there would be no point in doing it if the game carried on without you.Rogered Tart and Hoochy-Min like this. -

It's simply a new rule isn't it, rather than one club taking a stand. I believe it's a new measure to speed up or keep the game flowing and it's now under the refs jurisdictions as to whether he wants to stop or not (head injury aside)
We had it Saturday when Anderson was down for a good few minutes. We decided we didn't need him and carried on regardless so Cambridge were within their rights to do so too. I think he was still down when we were breaking and the tackle on Donaldson occurredAllotment Bantam likes this. -

Pretty sure in rugby league the physio can come on the pitch to deal with injuries quickly and the game carries on around them.

All they will do now is put their hands straight on their head as soon as they go down.
