    I remember Karl Goddard playing for us, and saw that after he left us he only played 26 more games, finally playing for Hereford between 1990 and 1992, after which he moved to Park Avenue.

    In 1992 he was only 25.... why such a short pro career? Especially as I recall he was fondly remembered in his time with us?

    He never fully recovered from the knee injury against Birmingham is what I remember. I was only young ish though so could be wrong.

    You're right; the injury put paid to his career. A real shame, as he had started well, and promised so much more. After missing 12 league matches he did come back to play in most of the remaining matches that 87/8 season, but he wasn't the same.

    Didn't he also get a centre spread news piece in one of the Sunday rags for some sexual misdemeanour? Otherwise a cracking left back but had his career cut short due to injury

    I remember that, vaguely -- probably more because amongst the various bits and pieces of City stuff I have is City Gent #28, in which there is a cartoon with a pair of Bantams with player's heads, Goddard and Hendrie. Goddard is asking "Where's this bird that need laying?" and Hendrie is looking worried! That's also the issue containing the wit and wisdom of the World's Daftest Man.
