We need a way forward , this must come from the top , all sorts of ideas on here ( and elseware ), but we've lacked a plan for nearly 18 mths . Hopefully with Julians input we can start putting things in place to kick start the season and maybe even move up the table .

The biggest job is to sort out the squad ready for January. This means shipping out those who are not good enough for league one right now as well as bringing in the players that DH wants.

The question is whether Mr Rupp wants to fund
(a) the cost of terminating any contracts early for players that are willing to leave
(b) the cost of transfers/agents fees in January
(C) an increase in the wage bill with income for the next year or so looking to be on a downward trend.
(d) Bringing in better coaching staff.
This will not come cheap. Hopefully Mr Rupp understands how costly Mr Rahic's steep learning curve has actually been, and is prepared to underwrite it.

Good shout that Keefly. Not sure what coaching badges he has but we should get him on board, working with the players, instilling the passion and the pride on a daily basis. He can get the badges whilst working with us. Whilst he may not have the badges that Drury does I know who I'd prefer to be working with them everyday!! Send Drury back to work with U18s.

Why not? 2 million quid would not only help us survive but also probably gain promotion to championship. They can have their interest back then

 

Up the wage bill and get in free agents with experience. Dont look for any strikers who cost upfront but look for a hanson type target man on a free.

Id like to keep playing youngsters who have done well but give them enough breaks to give them that fight to get back in the squad.

Avoid relegation and finish on a run to take us into next season.

Well, I meant it as a joke. But are you in any way confident that it wouldn't be the intent?

I said at the time of their whole 'lessons learned' statement that their understanding would be different from most fans, and that their intent would be to enforce MORE of Rahic's influence, not less.

 

So, Julian now has to oversee a Club structure he shaped which has been systematically deconstructed by the very people who have called for his help.Makes for an uncomfortable liaison as long as Rahic remains. I cannot see Julian assisting in any financial way re transfers, that would be the challenge for him to get Rupp to meet expectations imo. It will be interesting to see what background movement now follows and with what sense of urgency things may be rejigged.

 

I honestly can't see what he can do, the damage has already been done.It would need Houdini to sort this shambles out

 

If he's checking it twice and trying to work out who's naughty and nice, then that's pretty easy. Most of the players don't deserve anything this Christmas, they've been stealing a wage since August and masquerading as League One standard footballers.

 

Everybody keeps talking about nasty centre mids or tough tackling centre mids. And although I agree to an extent, I actually think we need a proper footballing midfielder . Someone like Cullen who gets on the ball and links play. Or somebody like Lee Evans or a Nathan Doyle type, who get on the ball spread passes and dictate the pace of a game. So we aren't always the team chasing the ball being second to everything.
