What a magnificent summer Bradford's very own Jonny is having.

He has been such a joy to watch and his partnerships with Joe Root have been thoroughly entertaining.

A shout out for another Yorkie, Halifax born Alex Lees who contributed to the fastest 100 opening partnership with Zak Crawley today

Let's not forget Jonny's dad David turned out for the Bantams on 17 occasions scoring one goal.

Remember him well. Let's just say he was a far better cricketer than footballer!

I went to school with Dave Bairstow, knew him well, so sad when he died.

I saw him score his BCAFC at Rochdale.

I saw him play league cricket with his other son Andrew in later years. He was still very competitive but you could see he was finding it hard coming to terms with life away from top level cricket/sport.

Fantastic to see a Bradfordian at the pinnacle of international sport, have to say didn’t think he had this kind of form in him as not many cricketers do. Him and Root have been on another planet recently and benefiting from their good mate Stokes’ captaincy. The change in mentality is very reminiscent of 2015 in the white ball game, as they say attack is the best form of defence and it suits Jonny down to the ground. We really do create some magnificent cricketers in Yorkshire.

Shame though that they don't play for Yorkshire as often as they should.

The 4th umpire was a Bradford lad as well, Alex Wharf, known him since he was about 12/13, used to watch him play in the Joe Limb competition with a couple of young lads I played senior cricket with.
