You've had a good career, get decent money, in his position I would be all over a move to a Mediterranean country

True that, but I can't help feeling a bit like these guys are losing the real reason they have this career over money.

Bale going to China for example. Ok, it's an absolute ridiculous deal he would have had in terms of cash. But China? Weird manufactured league. Strange city. Fans who are totally plastic. He's a professional footballer - I really would have hoped he'd have put his chosen sport over money. Come back to the Prem for example. At least there's something historical about English football - despite the way the Prem is going.

Scot Carson. Decent enough Championship keeper. Nah, he's gone to Man City to become their third keeper and never play.

Each to their own and all that. And I know it's a finite career path, so they have to take what they can.

And yes, playing football in Cyprus and being their star man does sound a decent life :)

After spending 6 months on loan at Huddersfield, not surprised he's gone to a better team in a warm climate

Moneys killed football at the top level to a certain extent. I honestly get more from watching City than the PL by a country mile.

Was thinking about possibly watching next time I'm over there. Wife has family over there and been loads of times. From what I recall, several years ago Pafos were one of the top teams in the Cypriot Prem League but went bust and reformed in the bottom tier but have worked themselves back up. Apparently hooliganism has risen over the last 6 or 7 years and there is now team related graffiti all over. They have a keen rivalry with Limassol. Would be great to do what he is doing, he should be top dog in that league by a mile.

I can understand Lee Grant signing for United as he is a fan and I think any fan would take the chance to say they played for the club they support but the likes of Carson going to city is a weird choice as he has no such connection . They won't get medals as they won't play and they basically just play in the u23s.

Mind you stranger is Ramero at United. Why is Argentinas number 1 willing to sit on the bench. In 3 years he has played 19 times domestically plus 12 Europa League games.
