Would be a no brainer in my opinion to offer him a decent contract.

I'm surprised he is that interested actually, I would imagine other clubs, either in Scotland or higher up the English pyramid, would be interested.

Get in early and sign him up as soon as possible to get the squad rebuild off to a good stsrt

 

This is definitely the sort of signing that would show we really mean business.
The fact the player himself is saying he’s open to it is definitely a massive factor.
Down to the club now to show that it’s serious about righting the previous wrongs.

Like a lot of players, the pull of having Mark Hughes as your manager in Lg 2 could now become quite the key for keeping/attracting good performers to City. Can you imagine Adams having the same effect?!

Some players don't need pace.

From what I've seen so far of Walker, he seems to have that ability to find space for himself and is calm and confident in possession.

 

Unless there are chronic injury issues, this is surely a total no-brainer.

Absolutely, he's the kind of player we should be signing up. Definitely got the quality, and in a team with real balance he can be a problem for any L2 team.

He is the kind of player Rahic wanted too, the problem was Rahic ONLY signed this kind of midfielder and that's why we were so disastrously poor.

Luckily, Hughes isn't going to fall into such amateur traps.

 

Jack Payne out if contract if we cant get Walker. Payne was superb for half a season but then turned to shit like the rest of the squad. Scored 11 goals for Swindon this season.

Still think there is a player in there and the only goal scoring midfielder we have had in the last decade or so! Our current squad seriously lacks goals so Payne only improves that.

 

Massively overrated so far. Was not surprised to see him off at halftime yesterday. He's been a disappointment for me

 

It sounds as if he is hedging his bets and would be open to a contract at either Hearts or City and is trying to keep both options open. Hearts is his home town club and his family would not have to move. On the other hand, will they offer him a contract, given they sent him out on loan. In our favour is that we are playing him and he will be coached by Mark Hughes. If we offered him 2 years that might be enough to tempt him.

 

Can't help thinking he would rather be in Scotland,which is understandable seeing as his family are there.Does not give the impression he has any affinity for City,just looking for the best deal.

 

Reading that article and one of the things that strikes me is that the players didn't have any more of a clue about the new manager than us punters did.

 

Massive question mark for me. His injury record is poor.

He was good under Adams but for me I just want MH to do as he thinks in the summer. We need to improve attacking wise and he will make sure we do.

I don’t look at any of our current players and think that they have to stay next season.

 

Agree Fordy. It's MH's shout and he'll know what he's looking for in players to stick or twist with. It's clear that the man has a plan. And one very different to Adams glum pragmatism.

Either way I think we have all seen enough already that Walker would be a significant asset for a club at our level. If there’s an opportunity to get him, no brainer.
