My suggestion to get him back was in the same sort of capacity he worked in when he worked under Rhodes and Lawn. Rhodes is effectively doing his old job again, without Lawn, with Rupp in the background providing the finances, rather than Rhodes himself. I thought if there was room for Mason before, there would be room again - he knows the sponsors and has a good relationship with the fans so could have boosted commercial revenues and ST sales for next season.

All that said, the T & A statement released this afternoon says he is still available as a consultant to them, as you say, so now that info is out there it would seem highly unlikely he will be returning.

 

Genuine question - what is his expertise? Do we need someone with the expertise he has or do we need someone with different skills and expertise?

There's an opportunity for Rupp to think about the right type of person needed to do whatever he feels is right to take the club forward (and I mean taking it forward longer term beyond the current relegation struggle)

I'd rather Rupp chooses the person he wants to run the club rather than someone who's been here before or someone the club and fans know because that way he'll be more inclined to let them run it! Besides, we've been down the "hire him to appease the fans" route not too long ago!

 

If he had been brought it in it would have been to smooth over relations with corporates and help on the marketing side. That said, didn't Edin bring in the chap from Featherstone who is now looking after the marketing? If so, maybe there isn't really room at the inn?

I suppose it is hard to know how much destruction Edin has done off the pitch really. Fans other than me will be in a better position to assess the debris!
