In league two I'd go as far as to say he was excellent playing the role of target man and as you rightly point out, his goal return was also very good for that type of striker.

In league one, not so much so and unfortunately we simply flogged him for far too long and that's probably where much of the criticism came from.

 

To say James Hanson is marmite is an understatement he has plenty of fans in either camp
Being our 3rd highest ever goalscorer he has scored lots of important and memorable goals as well as routine goals to help keep us in the football league. How many past strikers attaract such attention 2 years after leaving, us most have been instantly forgotten. In over 50 years of watching City there aren't many centre forwards apart from Sir Bobby who you can place in the same bracket Even BC never scored at Wembley and was never part of a team that reached a major cup final. Granted JH should have left us earlier in his career but in fairness who could we have signed as a straight replacement we haven't had a centre forward of his caliber since.

 

Not me, as much as I like Hanson, I want another clean sheet tomorrow

I'm sure the City faithful will show their appreciation. We are a good bunch and he was a good local lad-did-good.

 

James Hansons career at Valley Parade has been well documented on here and C&B and although there were many disagreements James Hanson was good for Bradford City and Bradford City were good for James Hanson.
I would think he wil get the same sort of respect all the history makers have done on their returns and I'm sure it won't be any different tommorow.

He was already broken, how many times Parky sent him out with an injection to get him through games.

 

And there's games he played in that I wish I could forget too....

 

Oh come on. There are plenty on here and on the old C&B forum who never missed any opportunity to have a go at Hanson, because his last couple of seasons here were poor. By which time he was a busted flush, having been run into the ground by PP.

 

If Big Jim was to return as our 3rd choice target man to cover injuries...I wouldnt be upset. Much rather him than a Samuels or Burrell anyway.

Cook definately need competition though and appreciate Big Jim isnt that.

 

I wouldn't even have Hanson as our 3rd choice pie stand attendant.

 

I can see Hanson being back at Guiseley next season.

 

Let's hope he's learnt to head in the right direction.

My mate who is a womble fan asked me what I thought of Hanson.I said he will do a good job for you and I think we missed his presence last season, good luck to him

 

What is presence? How will I know presence when I see it? Does Nicky Law have presence? Or is presence only something non scoring forwards have? Does Dom Poleon have any presence? Is presence like being young and hungry but for older folk? This presence is under rated.
