Yeah, those 91 goals for us, by the third highest goalscorer in the club's history, all scored themselves, I guess.

Look, he's struggled with injuries for several seasons, including his last two at City. He's never going to be the force he was several years ago and he's not coming back to us.

So isn't it about time that people like you stopped making snide comments about him whenever he gets mentioned and belatedly acknowledge his pivotal role in the club's successful pre-Rahic period? The man will continue to be a City legend long after the last couple of seasons here are forgotten.

What utter tosh. 'Facts' without context are just meaningless numbers.
The important facts here are that James Hanson is Bradford City's joint third highest goalscorer, hero of Wembley and Villa Park, and History Maker. Kurtis Guthrie is just Kurtis Guthrie.

Hanson is a funny one with us City fans. I don't get it.

Ok, when here you can question can we get better? Question him at time when the club was on the up but now the football club has gone backwards and we are not at any dizzy heights you start to understand how the likes of Hanson, Darby, Jones were special for this club. Surely?

Hanson in my mind was played far far too much by Parky. Times we were 3-0 up and Hanson was still on the pitch busting a his balls for the club when he should have been rested.

I don't see way the hate towards him. If he wants to become a Lorry driver then fine. I for one wish him the best luck in life and I must have given it out to him loads while he was here but I got it wrong and happy to admit that.

Our team would have killed for a Hanson, Darby or Jones over recent years.

And plenty that I'm only too happy to remember - Leeds, Burton, Arsenal, Villa, Notts County, Sunderland, Chelsea, to name a few.

I never get the hate shown against Hanson. Isn’t he third highest scorer for City? Like Offcomedun says, helped given me some of the best City memories in last 15 years.

Will never be able to comprehend some City fans antipathy towards Hanson. He scored some of the most important goals in the club's modern history, at Villa and Burton in particular. OK, so he wasn't the most mobile or skillful player, but those two goals alone make him someone who'll be remembered and talked about when we're all long gone.

    Agree
I think Hansons best years are now behind him
The move to the wombles is a good one for him they play to his style
a physical team that like to get the ball in the box early
Hopefully he does well (except for the 2 matches against us)
James did well for us scored some vital goals and doesn't deserve the slagging he gets on here

    Obviously he wouldn't.

He would make our top 20 players of all time no doubt, and most of his critics on here would agree. People wanted him out as his best days were behind him nothing else but some want to cling to a player for dear life even if it effects their status here, some of the language aimed at him was poor however but some can't help themselves.

What a load of rubbish. It's this sort of nonsense that brings the Hanson bashers out, instead of just respecting his contribution, having to make something up to make him sound even better than he was.

Wells was the 3rd highest goal scorer in the championship in 15/16 in a relegation threatened team, without his goals they would have come down, which would have meant no Wagner and no Premier League. If that's not enough he got into double figures in their promotion season, playing a lot more on rotation with Kerchunga, having to play lone striker and playing a high pressing game. in his first full season there he also got into double figures in a relegation threatened team. The reason he did nothing at Burnley is because he had surgery only weeks after joining.

But lets just pretend he only did anything because of Hanson: unamused:.

Did plenty for City in his time. Him and Well's were my favourite partnership since Mills and Blake.

    He'll get national League football.

Doesn't anyone have any entrenched opinions about James Hanson to argue the toss about to mix it up a bit??

Don't really understand people slagging Hanson. Maybe they've been spoilt in recent seasons. He scored some memorable goals for City. Hope he does well.

I'm not even sure he's at that level now but he was definitely better than that for a couple of years with us.

For me it was the "pub footballer", "50p head" kind of comments that really irked. And don't even start on the low life who hoped he would break his leg and never play again. Those sorts of comments were not the same as saying "nope, he isn't the best we can do". Some posters managed to show some sort of class when arguing against Hanson and what he offered us, no problem with that. Anyway, good luck to him at Grimsby.

Completely disagree. It's irrelevant whether it's James Hanson or not, I NEVER want anyone to score against us and that applies from a former young apprentice to Stuart McCall.

I can't understand any supposed Bradford City fan wanting us to concede, even if we'd scored 10. It just isn't in my mindset.
