Cool, another pointless signing of someone who will never be good enough for English league football

 

bit of a bizarre one, this. While he's only 16 and cannot be on much money, I would have though the more pressing matter would have been trying to pump in as many resources as possible in the first team to try prevent us going down?

When the first team is in good order, then worry about signing long-term prospects. We don't even know who the manager will be at the end of the season, nor who will be running the club!

 

Why not? He couldn’t do any worse than our regular strikers.

 

I assume this lad hasn’t been brought in for the first team so I can’t see a problem. We still have the junior teams in the club to look after or are people suggesting we pack them all in and just have the one squad?

 

Lets concentrate on our senior squad
Why bring a 16 year-old over from Norway. He will still cost money to keep and who is wasting time scouting that level. I hope this is a wind up .

 

Says he's been given a professional contract and goes into the development squad. Yet our development squad, if it even still exists, don't play competitive games anymore. You couldn't make this up!

 

I searched google and came up with a retired speed skater ?
Tried again and came up with this kid he as scored 16 goals in 11 games. That means nothing at his age I scored 16 goals in one day on Harden rec .

 

There's a bloke on the T&A City comments section that maintains that Rahic couldn't care less about where they are in the league or even which league they're playing in. He says Rahic is all about finding undiscovered talent and selling them at a profit. I used to think his theories were pretty off the wall, but signings like this one, considering the club's present league position, makes me think that he may have a point.

 

To be fair, have the club even announced this signing? It's just a kid, no big deal, and isn't going to make any difference to our (in) ability to sign quality in January.

I hate the development squad crap, but some posts are needlessly negative. This signing can't reflect on any work done to sign senior players, I wouldn't have thought.

However if we fail to sign players in January.. .

You lot need to lighten up, this lad will be a real prospect when we're in the conference.

 

I don't in the least mind them taking a punt on young players..as long as it is done through someone with expertise. And a track record of doing so successfully.

 

Why aren’t they concentrating on young footballers locally? That is what would like to see. Plus it won’t cost hardly anything as they will continue to live at home.

You're right mate.

I'm all for having a strategy for developing young players but I don't get the feeling that we have a plan. it feels like we are plucking individual players from all over hoping to get lucky.

it would be bad enough if we had a solid first team but this tinkering around the edges of the club when our league one status is under severe threat is baffling. Every sinew should be straining to try to avoid the drop and not diverted by punts on 16 year olds that won't make any impact in the short to medium term no matter how good they turn out to be.

 

You’re probably correct. Wasn’t it @Park bantam who was singing the praises of Wright when we signed him?

Park is almost as knowledgeable about football as Rahic and Abbott....!
