Exactly. Pleased to see him do well on Sat, but he didn’t have the same impact at Bolton and a quick look at his career profile suggests we shouldn’t be expecting him to impact every game like he did on Sat.

I expect he, Connolly and Pritchard will all be rotated as wingers are hit and miss by nature.

I think if you took the aggression out of Vaughans game he wouldn't be half as effective. He's a bit like a League 2 Rooney, in that they play their best when slightly wound up. I also thought it was good of him to back Ismail up by going over as it sends a message to the other team we aren't to be fxcked with. No doubts about it we've the nastiest team we've had for a long time and I for one am happy with that. Teams come to VP and raise their game and a swift boot tends to bring them back down to earth.

I have to disagree with the first booking. Had a great view of it from Midland Road. All he did was track his man back then placed his hand on him - and I mean placed not shove - and their player went to the ground. He seemed to be already going down to be honest. I would understand if it was for persistent fouling but Ismail had only been on 5 mins!

Spoke to my mate after the game - who was supporting Northampton in the away end - and he thought the same.

Anyway, have to agree with the general view. I thought Ismail made a very positive impact when he came on.

I don't agree. He played a different game at Bolton, cutting in onto his left foot whereas on Saturday he was going down the outside more. You also have to bear in mind pre Bolton he had only played something like 30 minutes and will be getting more match fit every minute he spends, with that will come confidence.
Shame about the red, see if we appeal it, seemed very soft but that is the sort of behaviour we will get from most visiting teams this season, needs stronger officials.

We can’t appeal it apparently as it’s two yellows. Can only appeal straight reds. Crazy rule!

Pretty much as soon as he came on he chested a cross field pass down. Perfect, he could not oh taken it in his stride any better. We have a couple of defenders that can play a good cross field ball like that. If he takes them on like that we will score a lot of goals from that move.

I agree he will need to build his fitness up. I just don't think we can realistically expect him to change games like he did on Saturday every week. He looked like Ben Muirhead against Bolton (head down and run).

He has had more loan spells than hot dinners during his career, which does hint at a lack of consistency perhaps, hence why he's with us in League Two. Especially while he is building his fitness up, I think we have to be cautious over expecting too much.

If he gets his head down and achieves similar to what someone like Fil Morais did, when he's fully fit, though, then he'll prove a good signing.

I thought he did really well on Saturday and it is exciting to have him - and Pritchard and Connolly - in the team. The game is so much more enjoyable watching wingers. So much better than the narrow tosh we were watching before. Akpan, Devine and Anderson bumbling around in midfield passing sideways and backwards. Vaughan and Donaldson will relish the better service.

Can't disagree with most of what you say, but Vaughan could quite easily have been sent off for getting involved, particularly with that ref.

I was away and missed the game on Saturday. I suspect The Times reporter wasn't there either. Villain of the week FFS. Talk about lazy journalism.
Anyway I see Nicky Law scored again
