Ireland Under-21s call up Bradford City ace Calum Kavanagh

Got a good feeling about Kav, he's going to do well for us and will be a saleable asset even if we don't go up

 

Wasn't he included in the squad for their previous games but didn't get any game time?

 

He was an unused sub against San Marino u21s.

Ireland u21s play again Croatia on Friday (5pm) and England on Tuesday (3pm). It would be a surpsrise if he doesn't get some minutes in at least 1 of these games. Looking at the Ireland u21 teams their regualar striker is Sinclair Armstrong who's playing for QPR and the other striker ahead of Kavanagh is Mark O'Mahony who's a 19 year old at Brighton with 10 in 11 in PL2 and has made 3 sub appearances this season for the 1st team.

 

0 minutes for Kavanagh across the 2 matches, the only player in the squad to not get on the pitch in either match. I'm sure it was a good experience for him but think it was a bit of a waste of time when he could've been relaxing on holiday ahead of pre-season starting.

 

Are you sure about that? I ask because in the match report on the FAI website a Kavanagh is given as a 62nd-minute sub in the Croatia match, and no other Kavanagh is listed in the squad:

Yep. Not sure where Birky got his info from but Kav definitely came on as a sub vs Croatia.

 

I was going off Flashscore who seem to have missed that sub and said a sub happened which didn't. I did think it was strange that he wouldn't even get on as a sub across the 2 games.
