    Can anyone suggest an insurance company who may specialise with regards new drivers any suggestions will help.

    Just don't bother insuring it. The fine is miles cheaper than the insurance and he'll fit right in if he lives in Bradford as around 50% of the drivers in certain postcodes are uninsured anyway.

    It did run through my mind when two of the insurance companies told us their quote both £2,000+ per year, he lives Queensbury way, I'd have thought one of the cheaper post codes for getting a car insured.

    After being on my insurance for his first year as a named driver my lad got an e-mail from go girl.com and now aged 20 the quote was approx £660.
    But yeah, it was a bit wierd that he is fixed up with them and they wanted my no-claims form even though i am not the main driver of that car.

    When I lived in Bradford, I registered and insured my car from my Mums in Huddersfield (HD3), it halved the cost.

    I was wondering if he might register and insure his car from his grandads address in Pontefract, it won't be my decision anyway so it's up to his parents, cheers.

    If he does that and it is found out then his insurance will be invalid so he could get points on his license, charges with fraud, and end up paying more for insurance for the rest of his life due to having to admit to insurance fraud

    Also get a criminal record which could adversely impact on job prospects. Any potential partner may not be happy about having a relationship with someone who has that history.

    If he is on the electoral register in Pontefract, the householder declares that he lives there (in case they are getting discounted CouncilTax rates) and registered with a GP and employers as being domiciled there, then technically he could stay over in Bradford as a guest.

    My son found Admiral very helpful (read cheapest) when insuring his first car. Other than that what about trying a local insurance broker?

    Make sure he/she names a parent as second driver, it reduces the premium with whoever you end up going with, and is not illegal, assuming the parent at least drives it around the block once or twice, unlike Nottsy suggestion, which is actually fraudulent
