it has been speculated that Red Bull might be interested in us. Very unlikely in my opinion, but I wonder how many people would sacrifice a bit of identity for more money and success.

No. For me identity comes first. Kit, name, ground etc. call me daft but even a huge cash injection akin to Man City proportions would leave me cold regardless of where it took us. Can't understand how any Man City fan can claim to be 'proud' with what they've 'achieved'.

I think clubs and other fans are jealous of how well they are run and how successful they have been in such a short period of time.

Very rarely the same is said about Chelsea and the lark.

Its nothing new and they have right to be proud, its still their club and they didn't choose to be bought. It's just they got the best foreign owners we may see?

I would never attend another match if the club changed to incorporate the Red Bull name and Red Bull colours.

It would not be the same club anymore.

The club would become an even bigger laughing stock than MK Dons if the team name and colours changed to reflect Red Bull.

As much as I am critical of Man City for essentially "buying" the league, you'd be crazy not to want their level of success and see players of that ability wearing our shirt.

Something on the level of Red Bull however is a big no no.

You will notice that City would sell out most weeks before they got the money, they don’t now (well officially they do as the owners buy 10-20k of the tickets every game) and that’s because the amount who don’t attend because of the loss of identity is greater than the glory hunting fans that came in with the money

    I've voted no.

I cant' see it being Red Bull anyway. Think they are still keen on England as a next choice of club but wouldn't have thought it would be us.

They are successful in what they do, however as others have said the kit change and stadium change etc would be too much

If they did look to buy the club I'm sure we could find a plane to get the message across that they wouldn't be welcome.
We already have one team ending in bull and look what happened to them.

Maybe they will buy them and their next venture will be Rugby League?

Not much to change name wise

Money buys you the best coaches, youth setup, ground and structure, the very best players, trophies etc etc.however it cannot buy you an identity that has to be earned over the years, the good and bad times, if you eliminate the bad times you literally rip your soul out of the club. I look at teams like Man City, and wonder what happened to the proud club who used to pride themselves of being proper Manchester, no prawn sandwiches for them. When they went away they took every seat that the opposition would let them, at home 26,000 plus.

They have lost all of they left it at the old stadium, they abandoned their identity. No thanks this is my club warts an all. We will be successful again through sheer hard work, not through a sugar daddy or mummy, and we can stand proud and hold our heads up.

I admire and am jealous of Man City. For me, they always have their identity as "the other team in Manchester", and for that I've always liked them. They've been down the leagues, and have had rough and ready players like Shaun Goater, Niall Quinn, David White etc. Despite now being "THE team in Manchester", they still don't come across as arrogant as Utd fans, and always seem a bit more down to earth and working class than their neighbours.

As I stated earlier, I don't think sponsorship is allowed in our league clubs names (otherwise they'd all be doing it already in the Prem), so it's a bit of a non starter for me. I even cringe at the "Keepmoat Stadium" or whatever it's meant to be called nowadays, so changing the club name and colours would be a real turn off, and something very hard to take.

This is an urban myth and simply not true. If you want proof, look at available seats for some humdrum fixture as game time approaches. I know as I go there to see football I haven't seen since the Messi, Xavi, Iniesta days and I might not see again.

Bradford Red Bulls? IF they keep our claret and amber colours then yep, I'd go for it. After all we've been shit 90%+ of the time we've had "identity" and I don't see that changing anytime soon. All the while other clubs steal a march on us through owners, yet our poll wants us to remain shit, so Bradford, so backward, it beats me!

And what is this "identity" anyway? You'd think we were a Gijon, Catania, Union Berlin or a St Pauli, a special club. Well we are not, we are serially underachieving northern provincial going nowhere Division 3 club with a flaky fan base. Get real.

Coincidentally I am going to the Man City game this weekend. My mate is a huge fan and I make one in once a season. This will be my fifth visit under these owners. Whilst it is great to get a glimpse of Aguero, Silva and Sane to appreciate just how good they are, and they are bloody good, I much preferred the Maine Road atmosphere. Whilst not wanting to be too romantic about the old times, the fans and excitement from the old ground had a better buzz on match day. This stadium and the players are world class but it is a bit soul less and the Man City fans have quickly got to expecting to win every game. Despite seeing an abundance of world class players I’ve always come away thinking give me my team and VP every day of the week..... this season being perhaps an exception!!

How is it a myth? The official records back it up. The BBC did a FOI request into PL attendances and found that while city across the recorded 12 games stated they were 97% full in reality they were 83% full. And that’s with the large number of tickets they give away or sell for £10 via places like the University

I suppose the arrogance comes with being the dominant team for 20 years, just like Liverpool were in 70s and 80s. Maybe MCFC will be similar in a few years time...but I know they don't sell out Champions League games as my eldest has been to several as can attend for a tenner via Manchester Student's Uni.......

Some teams like Beeston U are still arrogant and think they are Champions of Europe.....

Yeah that's what I'm saying....it's been this and it's been that, but it's always going to be Valley Parade. I bet it pisses the ground sponsors right off, that they've shelled out loads of money to "brand" the stadium, yet everyone refers to it as VP on TV, the Radio and in footballing circles. Hiding to nothing really.
