Great half. Hull with plenty of possession but limited them to a few half chances. We’ve been clinical with the couple of chances we’ve had. Can’t ask for much more against higher league opposition.

 

Great win but let's say defending could have been a little better for their goal, even if it was a good finish. I hope we don't give opponents so much time and space in future.

Was a really good day that, got upgraded to a box as we bought McCall suite tickets early. Then got to see that magnificent performance from Cook. Has he had a better game?

Good performance all round Andy Cook deserved the m.o.m . Great to see what i call a centre forwards outstanding performance

 

Not man of the match, that was Cook, but he did have a decent game…doing the dirty work with Smallwood.

 

Really? He wasn't on the ball much. But he was all over the place, pressing their defenders, closing down space and preventing them from moving the ball forward quickly. Which, I'm sure, was exactly what MH sent him on to do. He was a big part of an excellent game management performance from our lads.

 

Your right we say judge the team after 10 games but as fans when you lose (especially the way we did at Barrow) it's natural to question things.
I think Hughes has got a group of players who are quite capable of getting us out of this league and as you say with players returning from injury and suspension Hughes has selection problem most managers would be delighted to have.

 

I was saying prior to the match that I won't really mind paying out good money bringing in Oliver if the most we get out of it is Andy Cook's mojo.

 

My wife is a fan of the floater. I prefer ones that drop to the bottom and scar the bowl.

 

I don't think we can rely on Lee Angol to score enough goals against packed defences to get us promoted. But, played as the central target/link man with other goalscorers around him, I think he has the close control, vision and passing ability to create plenty of chances for others as well as winning plenty of free kicks in dangerous positions. That's what he was doing very well at the end of last season when he took over from Cook as the focal point of the attack.
But it seems that MH now sees him in his earlier role as a wide left forward, cutting in. I'm not convinced he's cut out for that role any more, because he now seems reluctant to run hard for fear of doing his hammy again.

Not sure what the commentators said about the incident as I was watching in a bar from Scarborough!

From the replays I saw, he was nowhere near the ball, but I would be prepared to watch it again.

 

To be fair to Cook, he looked in pretty good shape at the start of last season too. He had a period of time out with his injury and quite possibly, may have been rushed back before he was fully fit again.
