I don’t think that’s the unpopular opinion at all. It’s clear Gilliead is good in possession but still looks forward.
I agree, would prefer him in the middle

I thought he played well. I suspect that with the 3 attacking midfielders all being fairly green, Hughes wanted to add a bit more experience to the centre of the park.

All in all, a successful and entertaining evening.

Really enjoyed tonight's game, thought we may struggle after Hull scored first , they seemed to be controlling the game at that point. We did well to come back so quickly and showed great desire and resilience in the second half.
Think the team is still evolving and learning how to play, at the moment it feels a little to possession orientated, but once we get the balance right between possession and positive attacking play, then I feel we have a team that can be competitive in this league

I would favour, North, South and West as well instead of Gillead.

Defensively yes , offensively no. East is a lovely player for me going forward. So horses for courses perhaps?

Sutton in midfield for Gillead would be best choice. Excellent work rate tackling and breaking up attacks and winning possession and makes up for Smallwood been a bit slower

No Gillead is perfect for that position

Apparently it’s still regionalised in 2nd round.
I’d like to play Barrow again - prove we’ve learnt from last Saturday!

Agree. Been saying he should be starting ahead of Oliver and he showed why last night.

The challenge Oliver’s arrival has set him looks to have worked. Three goals in two games and led the line superbly last night as he outperformed multi million pound Championship forwards.

I still hope we see him and Oliver together at some point but for as long as we play 4-2-3-1 the striker spot has to be his short term.

For me Sutty was pretty anonymous last night and has been in all three games so far. Perhaps I wasn’t watching properly?

I didn’t record the game, (idiot) and had to put the four legged ones to bed at the end. Does anyone have a clip of the MH interview post 90 mins please?

I thought him and East did their jobs last night in just being reliable and sitting in the middle of the park and not giving any room to pass around. We basically closed the game down when they came on and were very solid. They hardly had a chance. It didn't need either to run the length of the pitch or create chances. Great to have two good, solid players that can come on and help close out the game.

What I found interesting was Songo’o sitting behind Hughes looking glum. He's not getting a lot of game time.

what are people's thoughts on Harry Lewis? Looks steady enough but looked a little nervy at times last night and was possibly a tad slow getting down for one of the Barrow goals at the weekend. He will hopefully get more confident once he builds up game time having not played first 11 football for 3 years, however if i wanted to be picky there were a couple of things where there is room for improvement.

He looked a bit uncomfortable clearing the ball from the area at times, admittedly not helped by silly passes along the six yard box, he was almost at the goal line twice when clearing the ball and there was a couple of occasions where i felt he either could have come for a cross but was rooted to his line. I also noticed on other occasions where he looked a little slow and unsure whether he could have come to the edge of the box to collect the ball over the top. A couple of times they had a ball down the channel where ideally Halliday and Ridehalgh could have just headed it back to him had he been in a better position but he made it more difficult for them by being in the position he was.

“ He wasn’t on the ball much” ….Exactly Offy. I just think he doesn’t look half the player he has been?
