I’m not as clued up on the horses as I used to be. But a day at the races with the lads is great. Me and some lads tagged onto a clubs annual Ripon races trip last Saturday. Brilliant day, as always...Despite the £4.50 being charged for a can of witch piss strongbow.

Mr Lupton for me.. Absolutely nailed it. Got it at 7s last time at York and when it won at York two years ago punted into 10/1.
Got it early 3 times at 20's and 25s.

Had it twice more in its 5 wins , though a few losses too.

Staxton first time out at 50s at Haydock won us a healthy 4 figure.

We followed one a few years ago, iirc it was called Hurricane Alan, we caught it at the right time. I dont usually follow a horse after its won but this one just kept winning.

I had one a few years back, a horse called Heavy Metal, one of Mark Johnston’s...It won 3 races in the the space of about 4 weeks at 10’s, 7’s and 33’s. The 33’s was a big handicap at Goodwood, I’ve never cheered anything as loudly when I was cheering that Home.

Can't beat the GGs and it's amazing the names you remember, the odd win here and there and they stick in your mind. My fav chaser was monets garden, one of my biggest winners was a horse called chief dan george, won a couple of decent staying races at 33/1 and oiseau de nuit was another i recall doing well with at big odds. Many many more losers though, naturally.

On the flat i always followed david barker's small stable (sadly not with us any longer) - some of his sprinters i liked, celtic mill, tancred times (prolific winner at a lower level), sierra vista, meccas mate. Latterly, meccas angel was linked with him. Another one was tangerine trees, but that was one of brian smart's. Sprints were my favourite really, 5f cavalry charge. Always remember a horse called repertory that would have won everything at 4f, always got reeled in at york. There was also a sprinter with milton bradley - juwwi - always came from behind, late, on a going day it was cracking on an off day absolute donkey, i recall it winning a decent handicap at york from off the pace when i was there. Celtic mill did similar, winning at york but making all (which was how all barker's sprinters ran) when i was there, top days.

Is tip sharing allowed here or would that be breaking the rules?
