To be fair Oldham played young kids as well making 7 changes to our 10, They kept the insurance of 2 senior players on the bench just in case which we did not, They were the better side by some distance taking advantage of some woeful passing continually losing the ball in dangerous areas, Hornby made some great saves that kept us in the game but in reality we could have lost this by 5 or 6 and had no complaints,

In today's T&A Stuart says "We lost it trying to win it"

Is that Scottish for "We weren't good enough" ?

Disagree with that.It was a first team competition
played with reserves and juniors but could of involved
first team players in knock out stages. So first team
players would of taken notice as outcome would of
involved them if we had got through.
It's City v Oldham and getting beat with the FA cup
imminent they have that psychological advantage.

As opposed to losing while trying to lose?

They were a lot more clinical but the better side by some distance? We weren't watching the same game.

Can’t tell if it’s a wind up or not so I’ll leave it there. Just a reminder most players and managers don’t even know the name of this cup and there are U23 teams in it, far from a first team cup.

They were by far the better team. I understand that people dont like this cup and the fact that it has PL U23s in it but its still a chance for fringe players to show they want to fight for a position in the league and by finishing bottom of the gorup non of them have done that. The money generated isnt too bad either. I think a win last night would have been worth 30k. Not bad in the current climate.

I don't think they were by far the better team, for me they were a lot more clinical but the game I watched and the stats suggest they weren't FAR better. Doesn't help we had DMH up front who can't look after a football...

I'd agree. They were better in the final third, both in creativity and execution. But this is the crux of the season to date, we simply just don't do enough in the final third both in build up and the end product.

And let's not get giddy about the last couple of wins. Poor competition in all honesty

Let's be honest, we don't have any strength OR depth up front when playing our best team, so when we're resting players for a nonsense cup I don't think anyone can be surprised that we're second best to Oldham's second string.

We don't HAVE an attacking second string.

We don't have a particularly good attacking first string either!!
