How poor is DMH please? He's no where near the required standard for a pro footballer.

 

The mismanagement of pre-season is the major reason why I am struggling to have any sympathy for McCall at the moment, nobody can craft a narrative where Rupp just screwed it all up, McCall is just as culpable. He wanted a small squad, he wasn't worried about signing a replacement for Vaughan, he wasn't worried about the lack of a recognised right back, everything was fine, everything would fall into place according to McCall.

I've gone from getting a sense of nervous excitement a few days before a big game. To actually dreading even sitting in front of my laptop to watch it. We're that bad that it's painful to watch, there's little to no enjoyment or entertainment. I look forward to visiting the dentist more than I do watching City at the moment.

My interest has been dwindling almost weekly. We've gone from a club that looked to be on the rise, to one in freefall. I've been an active supporter for a very long time. So if I'm feeling like this, then how are the less committed fans that can take it or leave it taking all of this? Combine our poor performances and lack of entertainment value with a nasty economic downturn and I think they'll be lucky to get 6-7k season tickets sold next season.

 

It's a very sad state of affairs, not to say embarrassing, that most of the fans, and McCall given his comments today in T&A, are so pessimistic about our chances of securing even a single point at home to Cheltenham.

We have fallen behind the likes of Salford, Harrogate and Newport now and I genuinely feel we would struggle in the National League at the moment.

Herr Rupp as a great deal to answer for, for the way he has allowed our beloved football club to sink to such depths, after inheriting a club that was in such a good position to continue the progress achieved under the previous owners.

I spoke to Mark Lawn a few weeks back and he was distraught that all his hard work and that of Phil Parkinson had been tossed away.

 

Listening to that interview Stuart's naivety is staggering. He talks about Cheltenham having big lads all over the pitch who'll be hard to cope with. You don't say, Stuart. Does it ever occur to him that strength and power is exactly what you need to get out of this division as opposed to the small lightweight players he's signed?

 

Heart and fight doesn't score goals or keep them out.

We create very very little. We've run around alot and the lads have pushed well but the players just lack quality.

 

1st half performance was better then we've seen recently.

2nd half i never felt like we were really in it. We could have got a draw, we could have been beaten 4-1. Can't really complain with the result.

Overall though, 1 more place closer to the drop zone and the alarm bells are ringing louder.

 

Poor overall, again. First half was better, and we carved out a few reasonable chances. But we have no consistent threat. I've no idea what our attacking threat is or how we plan to achieve a victory. It's a complete mish mash and quite frankly a mess. I just don't see how we inflict damage on another team with our squad of available players. Even when the injuries return.

Yes there was more effort and endeavour but they're professional footballers. That should be the minimum and is hardly worthy of applause.

 

POST MATCH soundbites:
He's going hard on the injury front. He can't wait til he can bring Novak, and GUTHRIE back.
Also said that he's got 26 pro's, and that's bigger than what he actually wants.
Doesn't care about the league position. Plenty of games to get safe. Will start looking at the league table once we start winning a few games.
Expectations from the beginning of the season, is now night and day compared to where we are now.
Once he gets a few more bodies back, will start to feel more confident.
Salford and Oldham recently wasn't good enough, but recently, we haven't deserved to lose. IF we had a full complement of players, then maybe we'd win more.
Novak, he'd love on the bench on Saturday, and maybe could come on and give 20 mins.
Spoke to Ryan about January. Meeting next week. Proper sit down and target players and areas. BUT, getting a few more bodies back, means we don't really need much. Once they are back, there's competition for places, and that will push the current players on.

Interviewer was nice to him today. Almost as if he's been told to simmer down a bit.
From this interview, I take it we're not going to make any signings in Jan, because our squad is already big, and we've got loads of players due to come back from injury.

i thought we were told we had players lined up already for January? Maybe 2 or 3? Or have I misheard that previously?
Sounds like we are no nearer than we normally are from that? Not even sat down and talked about it yet? Baffling. It’s gonna be another shambles I can feel it

 

McCall's comments this morning are the sorts of comments he was coming out with in his last spell just before he got sacked. I distinctly remember him saying something along the lines of maybe needing to go 5 at the back and play long ball to try eek out a point. He did that at Oldham away, we lost and he was sacked. He was out of ideas then and he's out of ideas now.

 

I'm officially insane then....I keep paying for ifollow games.....
