Home form

Our poor home form seems to have continued from last season. Last season we scored and couldn't hold on for wins and this season it's the opposite with concededing 1st and chasing games.

From the 12 home league games this season I make it that we've scored 1st in only 4 of them (Swindon, Crewe, Accrington and Walsall) and even worse I make it that we've only been winning in 1 game at half time. The pattern doesn't look like changing with Alexander so the players have got to take a lot of responsibility for it. For me it suggests the players are scared when the pressure is on to score but once we go behind the pressure is lifted and they've got nothing to lose.

Whilst having the ability to come from behind is great it's happening far too often and coming back to bite us hard.

There are so many other bad stats that are sad reading:

• We've only scored in both halves of a home game once
• Only 4 first half home goals (1 goal in the first 30 minutes)
• Average minute of our 1st goal is 44 minutes (only Walsall have a later time)
• 3rd lowest goals/game at home
• We've only been leading for 14.8% of the total home minutes (2nd lowest in the league, only Salford have worse)
• We've trailing for 30.6% of the total home minutes (5th worst)

 

In terms of scoring first we've done it 5 times away from home so not much difference. Overall when we've scored 1st we've won 7, drawn 1 and lost 1 so our record is good but we don't get into that position often enough.

Away from home we've been winning 4 times at half time. In the half time table we are 24th with 10 points at home but 12th with 15 points away from home.

For the other stats:

• 4 games we've scored in both halves compared with 1 at home
• Scored 9 goals in the 1st half (4 at home)
• 7 in the first 30 minutes (1 at home)
• Average time of 1st goal is 33 minutes (league average is 29)
• We've been leading for 25.7% of the game time away

Another stat i've just found is that we are the only side in the league not to score 3+ goals in a game at home whereas away we've done it 3 times.
