I think Simon is right December lulled Hopkin into a false sense of security.we did look very good that month scoring goals for fun. He must have thought secure Payne and bring in one or two and we would be fine.
Unfortunately it was just a flash in the pan.and our deficiencies are very apparent

 

Agree.

Think fans made that point at the time too. Big gamble putting most of your eggs in one basket when you could have got 4 players for the wages Payne is reportedly on.

 

Prior to the January Window, Payne represented 'Good value for money', within the squad and system at that time. Things have since changed ......... not least the cost of his services.

 

Maybe but do you know what we are paying for Butterfield a lot of conjecture around what we are. There are lots of twists and turns especially around the transfer window in January - we do not know the full facts of what the position was behind the scenes as it came clear what financial damage had been done by Mr Rahic and how it restricted our transfer activity to what Hopkin sought and had been promised earlier

How do you measure low standards, Id suggest that can only be measured by what money is made available by the owners.
We couldn't compete with the likes of Sunderland, Peterborough, Fleetwood, etc are we failing because we can't match them finacially.

I agree. At some point, we MUST try to instil some stability and think about the longer term. Give him 9 games to start laying plans for next season and then back him as much as we can.

Yes - Priority ONE ....... TRY and keep us up.

Improve our results, and therefore form. If the improvement is good enough - Extend the contract offer, regardless of where we end up. (The way results are going ........... 54 points may struggle to survive !!)

 

Bit ironic that the person urging caution is the very same one that started questioning Hopkin after barely 2 months an 9 games in charge. Results business maybe but I think most would like to think he'll be here next year irrespective of results between now and then.

If we get nothing from Saturday; 8pts adrift of Oxford it pretty much is "good night Vienna" barring a run of form and consistency the like of which this lot have shown zero capability of from day one !. As for Bowyer I would hold your powder he has an 11 game audition to get through. Lose Saturday and the statistics are against a permanent appointment. I accept we are headed into the abyss of League 2 for god knows how long ?. So accepting that keeping us in League 1 is not the ultimate goal of the "Bowyer audition". As I have previously said he must show 1. With the personnel at his disposal what a Bowyer style of play amounts to ?? 2. Not allow us to be cut adrift by more points than we are now. 3.Make us harder to beat.
If he shows me those three things irrespective of the relegation he gets a one year deal in League 2.

 

So let's not make excuses then like @Bronco is doing.

 

Aren't you one of the "lets stop selling our football on the cheap" then quote our owner is rich, have you not been reading what has been posted on here with regards Stefan making good Rahic's f**k up and what he has had to put in to stabilise the club?.
