Don't want a head coach now. I think we should have a 'guest' head coach every week where a winner of a raffle gets to pick the team. Special occasions would have a guest 'celebrity' head coach such as the weatherman from Look North or a coach of Edin's choosing. Just not himself.

 

It went on so long that one hit retirement age and the other died.

Popped on here wondering but I see the old women are out having a natter....

 

On the 2nd June, nearly two weeks ago, Edin claimed the search was nearing an end. Clearly he believed he had his man.

He still hasn’t appointed a head coach.

And yet happy clapping thoroughly nice chaps still believe that it’s the club that are being thorough, they’re taking their time and not that nobody wants the job.

Of course I’ll be asked where my evidence is, to give the inside leg measurements of those who turned down the gig, but there’s no denying this delay isn’t in Edin’s plan.

 

When is he 34?

 

Bantamtalk members when they find out they’ll have to wait another 2 weeks for the head coach to be announced.

How do you know he’s made four good signings? Have you seen them play? Have you seen them play in the system Edin wants? Have you seen how they interact with their team mates and how their morale will be after three months? How does their salary compare to experienced players who are may be less of a gamble? How will they respond to a poor run of form, or how will they respond to the head coach’s instructions and advice?

If you can answer all these then you can judge if they are good signings. If not, like the rest of us, you’re guessing.

Darragh MacAnthony knows the importance of investment and uses that to bring in players with serious potential.

We adopt a massive scattergun approach and just hope when we reel the net in there might be the odd fish among the bicycle tyres and used nappies.

Hang on a minute, this is a club who had the the best part of 20k fans in league 1, a club who have been progressing for the last 5 season's, a club that beat premiership opposition, a club that went to Wembley, twice, a league 1 club in a league cup final, a promotion winning team with players we believed in, then a club sold to new owners with the financial clout to take us forward. But now we are being asked to buy into a system where the managers position is redundant, where the chairman is photographed with his new signings rather than the manager. You want us to be patient now and watch the youngsters develop over time, providing the funds for our first team development rather than using some of the money they reportedly have (our resources) to continue our progression? Sorry, this is not what I envisaged when Rahic and Rupp took over from lawn and Rhodes and nor is it (I suspect) for many other City fans. Frankly, (imo) It is utter gash. I was so optimistic about the future, having finally had some success after years floundering around in the khazi league we were in business, but hey, let's throw all that progression away because someone reckons they know a better way that doesn't involve spending money? Great, im sure they do but please accept there will be those of us who think they have been had.
When it all turns out for the good, you can say " I told you so" and i won't argue but we will have to see.

 

The one thing Rahic has admitted to getting wrong was communication. The fact that he last spoke to Simon Parker, about the HC position, was 5wks ago, tells us all that he’s learnt NOTHING.

I don’t think fans expected a daily or even weekly update, but when his own deadline expired, surely he should make public why a new HC hadn’t signed and when they expected to put that right?

The lack of communication from the club over this, is poor and shows no lessons learned

 

Edin is hands on. He mentioned how he'd comment on a game because he knows football, that PP an experienced manager could bounce off his ideas, as well as refering to himself as Director of football, being heavily involved in first team recruitment, signing most of our youth players and setting out how he wants the team to play (attractive, attacking football). In comparison, PP during the Lawn era had far more control.

This isn't a criticism of Rahic, just pointing out that he's involved in most things Bradford City. Fair enough if that's what he wants to do. Given how hands on he is though, he deserves the flack he receives when things don't go too well (like last season) but also the accolades when/if we succeed.

We will probably end up appointing someone who has not even appeared on the betting lists, such is the secrecy and lack of credible rumours, which you have to hand it to the owners, they are doing well preventing leaks from the club

 

Further to what I posted the other day, we have apparently been looking at Ferguson since around March time. Edin liked the way he has brought in youngsters at Donny and has kept them in the league. And also see his previous work with Peterborough.

The owners knew if Grayson didn’t sign they needed a back up and Fergie looks to be that man.

Now the reason for the delay is if we snapped him up immediately after resigning from Donny they would have sought some form of compensation and City are not willing to pay any. By delaying it we can say he became available and we started talking but it’s possible his head was turned?

He is consulting with the club on players and plans and as I said the other day it should be done early this week.

As I said will hold my hands up if it’s wrong but taken from same source as previously.
