Ive seen so many people say we played well yesterday blah blah

The two headlines on the city app say
    * City suffer defeat DESPITE ENCOURAGING SHOWING
    * hopkin left to rue missed chances

On twitter when we went 2-0 down the city tiwtter
Page posted ‘against the run of play’

    Then i watch the highlights....

There is 11 clips, guess how many are of a city attack?

    NONE! ZILCH! ........ ZERO!!!

not even one attack in the highlights, its like why is everyone saying it was a good performance when the match highlights cant even find one attack on goal?

Is this how bad we have become that playing a match with zero chances created is still described seen as a good performance??

We had a very good chance in the first minute with a good save from Doyle and great work from Scannell.

A great cross from Payne that Doyle nearly got on the end of.

A penalty appeal that would have been given 1 out of 2 times.

Although they squandered a couple of really good chances.

Overall, they edged it due to better finishing and they deserved the win.

However, much, much better than Blackpool, but as you say, it's a level of where we are.

I wouldn't take much notice of the highlights. It was the same for the Shrewsbury game where we had 4 or 5 great chances but only 1 got shown.

0-2 flattered Charlton who I thought were poor aside from their strikers. A draw would've been a fair result.

    You say we ‘edged it’

But the highlights show 11 dangerous attacks
From Charlton of which 2 were goals, we didnt have one attack shown... i wouldnt say thats edging it id say thats total domination..

We are going down unless sometbing drastic is done, but what worries me is Edin seems to think mid table mediocrity is success, he has stated it in number of interviews and im shocked why there isnt anyone really bringing this up anywere....

Someome claimed yesterday, that the radio post match highlights included 'strong tackles' instead of attempts and near misses.

It seems like there are fans who are desperately trying to cling onto anything that could be deemed at all positive at the moment.

I didn’t think we looked like scoring yesterday.

Maybe not after 2 minutes when Doyle should have scored....and then they scored a minute later....

It says it all when a lot of our fans are content with and accepting a 0-2 loss at home in the league.

It is a sorry state of affairs, I will give you that. Ppl will no doubt be grateful if we manage to stay in the league. From where we have been, you are right expectations have dropped, some fans are just accepting that, others are voting with their feet.

We played alot better than we have done previously but we are nowhere where we should be. Charlton derseved the win but I did see more effort and desire, i also do believe Hopkin will get us out of this mess.

Have you been on a different planet the last 6 weeks? Of course it's not good enough but in reply to your question, yes, expectation has lowered this much. A mid-table finish will be fair enough at this point.

I don't know why you think people are 'happy' with this. Haven't you trawled through the millions of posts about what a dire situation it is? It is unfortunately the reality though and throwing hissy fits every two minutes isn't going to help matters. Hopkin in the right man, if anyone can change It, he will, so that's the positive for me.

It's a relegation fight, get used to it. Been through plenty myself with City to know how it goes.

We should have scored with the first shot of the game and had a penalty during a lengthy second half spell where they couldnt get out if their half as we pressed hard. They defended very well it has to be said. Its hard to get clear sight of goal when they had 11 men behind the ball.
    Much improved display all round.

I wish we were as poor as Charlton!. I wish we had a powerful goalscoring striker such as Taylor. I wish we had a central midfielder with the class of Cullen, and above all, I wish we had a couple of central defenders such as Bauer and Pearce who know how to defend

Hopkin can only work with what he has the last two games have given me hope, This fiasco as I'm sure your alluding to is down to Edin no one else, let's revisit the situation at the end of October when maybe Hopkin has brought a couple more of his type of player in and weve got a few of the injured players back.
Your pain and frustration is being felt by every Bradford City fan.

That was the difference in the game. Two dominant centre backs in the Rory McArdle mould, a central midfielder way too good for this division and a strong and pacy front line in Grant and the very impressive Taylor. We are suffering for a pre season transfer policy that had no strategy to it whatsoever. Kinda sums up everything about the club in pre season.

What pre season? It was just meander through summer punctured by signings to no plan whatsoever. Some impressive signings, but then we stopped, and decided the young players can fill in. Amateur!!

We played "a lot better" - because tbh, we can't really get any worse. Stringing two passes together would contribute a better performance at the moment!

Charlton "edging it" is a little bit unfair on Charlton. They didn't really need to get out of fourth gear. Once again we struggled with keeping possession, and the strong tackles everyone is talking about, is mostly due to misplaced passes or balls being passed too short. After the Doyle shot in the first couple of mins, we were mostly shooting from range with little power or direction. Didn't look like scoring.

The main difference between the two teams, was the structure and formation. Cullen sat in his spot and pinged balls out wide, or fed short balls through the middle. Charltons forwards were direct and ran with the ball. Their centreback were rock solid and were up the arse of our forwards whenever the ball was pumped forward. Whereas we had two midfielders who were chasing the ball in the middle of the park, forwards who were having to come deep to get the ball, or contend with high passes, an attacking mid who was all over the place and often caught in dead ends, and a back four who were being dragged out of position.

Don't get me wrong - it's definitely an improvement, but I am with those who say we're trying to gloss over the faults by saying "at least we tried". Sad when we're happy and positive about a two nil loss at home :(

Yeah this was confirmed by someone i know who was talking to a current player. Hardly any fitness training done at all. And everyone was pointing out that we needed another striker/target man but the incumbents at the club obviously knew better. We usually seemed disorganised in pre season but this years tops the lot. A shocking way to run a professional football club.

That's a little unfair on Hopkin, I'll ask you this what would you think the scoreline would have been if Micheal Collins had still been in charge, it doesn't bear thinking about, once again poor defending just the same as at Blackpool from the very players most would think would be our better performing players, give Hopkin a chance.
