Out for the rest of the season apparently after having back surgery that’s another option gone if we get injuries

a shame - that goal against Cambridge was right up there with the best.

Don't think he's had the surgery yet but yes, likely to be out for the rest of the season now, and has probably played his last game for us.

Shame for him and its probably the last we see of him in a City shirt.

Slightly worried now that we look very short in midfield. Think Pritchard was seen as cover for Sutton and Watt rather than a wide man and now he's out, there's no options in there other than dropping Cooke back. Hope we don't regret not signing a CM in January but we have looked very leggy in that area the last couple of games.

Evans can play there, as can FCD, Scales, AOC and even Stevens if needs be. Staunton can when he's back too.

Lets hope we don't pick up any more midfield injuries, which seems unlikely given the amount of matches being played, although with your comment it would appear you do not rate him, we need as many fit players as possible for the run in.
His goal a few weeks back was superb and there have been a lot worse players than him this season.

Not one of those you've mentioned is a natural central midfielder though. I understand that its too late for this season but its definitely something we need to address in the summer.

Agreed, but my post was in reply to bantam2708 who expressed concern about Pritchard being out because they saw them as cover for Sutton and Watt - even though Harry is not a natural central midfielder either. The point I was making is there are other options that whilst also not natural midfielders, are as good as Pritchard.
I agree that is certainly an area that needs addressing in the summer.

I'm not sure any of them are good enough in that position to be honest.

Bad luck for him and us. Hope he makes a speedy recovery so he can sort out a contract extension or a new club

Might be time to look at short term options for out of contract players who can cover the odd game if needed

I feel for the lad and I sincerely hope the op fixes his ongoing back injury problems.
At the same time I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if he left in the summer. That's purely down to his injury record. The same goes for Ismail and Novak. Good players on their day but they make more appearances on the physio table than they do on the pitch. And at our level that's a luxury we can't afford.

He’s had a very stop / start career with us and never looked like nailing down a position. I’m hoping the days of signing injury prone players are well and truly over. I hope the surgery is a success and he’s able to continue with his career.

Didn't Jordan Stephens play central for FGR before he went to Leeds?

Stevens looks less ready than anyone else in the squad. I'm not sure I'd be trusting him in CM in front of any of the others mentioned.

Maybe he could slot in Cookes role at a push but I'm not sure he's the type of player to perform Watt or Suttons role.

Depends who and how much I suppose. Given how late we are in the season though I can't see anyone else coming into the squad, even someone released in January might be way off match fit.

For me, we just go as we are and fill in any necessary gaps with the squad we have.
