Is VVD world class? Of course he is. So if Carragher, Souness and Mourhino were debating whether Maguire is possibly better than VVD then simple logical dictates that Maguire is also world class. Unless you think they were all talking nonsense.

Interesting reactions to the VVD transfer when it happened. A lot of people surprised/unhappy with the high price. Now everyone says it was a great move and look how much he has improved Liverpool.

Time will tell but if Maguire can help United back into the top 4 and get them into contention for trophies then the £80/85m price will be money well spent.

 

If he can step up like VVD did from Southampton he would be world class. V few would agree 80m for VVD at the time was a good deal yet he's developed into an elite tier player under Klopp. However I would say your right at the moment in that Maguire's about the same as Gomez, which is no insult as Gomez is a v good player himself.

It's also not exactly being embarrassed by Man City because they're pissing all over everyone else bar Liverpool. One point you made earlier though is dead on, Woodward ha ha ha.
