What excuses did he give then after games?

 

When he came, I thought he was a fantastic appointment but I am inclined to agree with you. No confidence in his own skills unless the outcome is virtually guaranteed. Bit like a politician who lets all and sundry do the donkey work, then appears at the end to take all the credit(american presidents excepted)

 

Thank God someone has had the balls to say this.

I'm not interested in whether a proven manager at this level 'tells us what he needs to succeed'. How conceited. And how the f**k would he know?

The way I see it, he's played us. He's taken 4 months to have a look at everything associated with the club before making his decision. Why couldn't he just jump in like most managers do?

I don't blame Rahic and Rupp for sticking to their guns. It takes more than just running a club professionally to be a professional club.

Parkinson couldn't wait to leave and neither could Grayson in the end. It's their loss.

 

Grayson was totally the wrong fit for us. R&R should have walked away as soon as he refused to sign a long term deal. He was never committed and imo staying on was never his intention. My frustration is we are in the close season and having to start again from scratch

 

4 promotions with 4 teams from this league.

Not what we need.

 

You're right by the way. He's not the right fit for a club like us.

He's a proven, successful manager at this level.

Whereas we're basically a joke.

He's a much better fit for someone like Scunthorpe or Barnsley.

Agree with all above, proven at this level but some how he just dident seem to fit IMO.

 

It just shows all managers need to fit into the club, no matter what they have done before, it doesn’t always fit withanother club. He actually is quite rigid in his approach, so needs to find a club that matches. We like adaptable managers, those that can work in different ways. Well we used who knows now.

I think the new coach definitely has to understand who we are and where we stand as a club, the clubs that Simon Grayson has been at previous to us are way ahead of us in terms of stature and facilities, if he was expecting to come to City and see the same he obviously knew nothing about this clubs past. I did understand where he was coming from with his remarks though. First and foremost we need a coach who will get on with Rahic, if when interviewed any prospective coach gets an ounce of doubt then don't take the job, Stuart made that mistake. They will have to accept Edin will have his say and his way, he hasn't bought a share in the club to just sit in the chairmans seat. Its his toy and he wants to play with it. Who will work goodness knows? There are other clubs in the football league that operate this way so it isn't something exclusive to us. I don't think it will put any job hunter off applying but they need to bare this in mind, i don't want another Stuart McCall scenario. Its not good for the club.

 

Grayson had all the attributes to become a good manager at City given the right tools, 4 promotions from league one with 4 different clubs is a fantastic achievement. He would have cleared out all the dead wood and brought in his own players and got us promoted, but no, instead he was offered a mid table budget and he basically said sorry i'm going if you won't back me, Grayson knows this league and what it needs to get promoted.
Now we are back to square one and on to the 4th manager in two years, the new man will not even know the players and their strengths and weaknesses so in effect Grayson going has set us back another six months to a year. all because they would not spend any of their own money and back him.
Rahic and Rupp have already stated a few times that they bought the club to make a profit then sell it, so anybody that thinks that they will put any more money into the club are dreaming.
It does not matter who comes in they will not back him financially.
