Bet you said the same when I criticised the Adams appointment.

Welcome to the Valley Parade asylum Graham and Chris.

Relatively happy with the appointment. I said on here last week that I had warmed to his potential appointment.

I don't get some fans on social media being underwhelmed, not sure who they thought we could attract. Alexander has a very decent record and win ratio.

Let's hope he is as good a fit as Parky eventually become. I have them down as similar managers.

Glad all sorted now and everyone can settle down now.

Lots of games left for him to mount a playoff challenge.

The only surprise is the length of contract. Hopefully he at least sees it out which would mean he has brought us some success

Ideally, I'd have preferred someone fresher, not just picked from the 'he seems to have done OK in the past in this league' hat.

Although, I'm fully cognisant just why he's been given the job. With a squad that's not that far from the trapdoor into complete oblivion. Get this appointment badly wrong and the results could have been terminal. So it probably wasn't the time to gamble. Hopefully, he's given the time and the backing to build something we can all be proud of.

Good luck Graham. He arrives with a blank slate, lets see what he can do. I'm not convinced, but time will tell. My biggest criticism here, again, is of Rupp/Sparks. Stylistically, Alexander is about as far away from Hughes as you can get. It belays the complete lack of strategy and necessitates another overhaul of the squad, which we'll presumably leave down to the manager alone, and and then if (or when) it goes wrong again, we're back to square one. There's a complete lack of any sort of long term plan.

Heard a bit of his interview, and can see why Sparks was attracted to him. He basically sounds like Sparks. About as close to appointing himself as he could get, I imagine

Another Dingle connection! Having put all that aside, I wish him all the best and hope he can make a success of things. In terms of sheer managerial probability, we must be due a change of luck.

Don't get that, Barton has nowhere near the record and his teams play worse football

This is the first appointment in a long time, certainly since we've been in L2, that I personally have zero expectations or worry about off the bat.

Bowyer, had recent success and with Vaughan, Doyle and Donaldson up top, everyone had top of the tree ideas. I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing McCall in the dugout, was never inspired by his return, always seemed like a panic move. Trueman & Sellars had that worry to them about experience and I can't imagine many were confident in that hire. Adams' success made everyone think he's going to do well here but it just never happened and I think every fan expected Hughes to pull us up the pyramid when he signed.

Alexander isn't flash, doesn't seem to have a chip on his shoulder, doesn't have an expectation it seems to have us in the Champ by the end of his contract. Hopefully he can steady this ship and get some feel back into the squad.

He has joined 3 clubs during the season before and at Fleetwood, he was unbeaten in his first 5. At Scunthorpe, he had 1 defeat (to us) in the 9 games he had left that season with 7 wins. And at Motherwell he had 1 defeat in his first 5. Hopefully he can have another good bounce start here!

Hope he Plays his favoured 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 instead of the 4-2-3-1 we have been playing as it rarely suited us

Good luck to the new management team. At least he won't have an interfering owner breathing down his neck, more one that's harder to find than Lord Lucan. Probably too much to expect to him to get success with such a imbalanced squad thanks to Hughes but you never know. Hopefully he realises quickly where our limitations are and sets up accordingly.

Well he is a better centre half (at 50+) than the current bunch :)

Sounds like Alexander was utterly stumped that MK Dons had a philosophy.

He won't have that issue here, that's for sure!

I don't know what style of football will suit everybody, to be honest, as I think it's far more arbitrary than people realize. Don't pass too much, get it forrad, but if you rely on a big man too much that's not good enough either.

He's at least right that winning is all that really matters, because all the guff about style of football that gets banded about is extremely inconsistent.

There's no such style as 'entertaining' football.

Lucketti was a very decent centre back and hopefully can sort out the shambles of our present centre backs

When it was announced that he was going to our manager I just continued washing cars in the rain. That is how excited I was.

Good luck to him. I don’t mind him but I am not excited about it either.

Hopefully, he can sort Sparks out because this is his last chance in picking a manager. Sparks needs to go but it is what it is and with an owner that doesn’t care then the club is fight a losing battle.

As fans, we just have to support and pray.
