The country and indeed world are in crisis!
The Government make disparaging comments about strikers, are ‘fiddling’ ala Nero while the country goes into meltdown.
    Absent.
    No one available.
Johnson is still the Prime Minister.
Missing, yet able to go to the Ukraine and lecture the British Public about how we are compared to the Ukrainians (patronising beyond belief).

Lets have a General Election now rather than a choice between Ms Trust and Riki (the American green card holding Tax Avoider).
This lot were a busted flush sometime ago. Twelve years of running the country into the ground.
    Time to go.

I think you're being a little unfair there. The Johnson Govt has delivered loads of stuff. Here's just a few of their big statements ....

'Get Brexit Done' .... OK, not quite there yet with several important missing parts despite the PM's promises

'Take Back Control' .... OK, not quite under control as yet with record numbers crossing the Channel

'Build Back Better' ... OK, not a lot of building going on with major infrastructure plans cancelled

But hey, Johnson has had a lovely couple of family holidays during a national cost of living crisis.

On reflection and looking at the facts rather than minister's statements, maybe you're quite right with what you say! ;)

Leaving aside the fact that Starmer has explicitly ruled out a coalition with the SNP, it most certainly would make things better. Anything would be better than this shower of shite.
Quite frankly, a Monster Raving Loony Party government would do better than this set of clowns. They have spent the last twelve years running the country into the ground. They're the most economically incompetent set of charlatans in living memory. And Truss is about to make them even worse.

To be honest this doesn't really bother me when it's done right. An MP from Aberdeen for example is expected to server their constituency and also be in Westminster. I have no problem with costs being covered to allow them to cover two places. If that is costs for one property whilst they still pay for their other then it's people really getting upset at the wrong places. Same with staffing costs to run a constituency office, unless people are wrongly the illusion that an MP will personally respond to every e-mail and letter themselves without a staff.

The pisstake kicks in when it is a London based MP who doing this for that there is no excuse.

A local MP to me has a second home in Central London which is usually occupied by sn assistant, while he lives with his parents in the constituency. Travel time to Westminster - under an hour

The easy answer would be to give all MPs a set amount which (subject to agreement with HMRC) could be split between a taxable salary element and an 'expenses' element.

No complicated (open to abuse) claims system would be needed.

It took me around a hour to commute to central Manchester. Far longer than 40 minutes from Newbury or under half an hour from Harpenden. Sadly my employers wouldn’t stump up for a bijou flat in central Manchester. Such is life!

I don't support those who are taking the piss, however I do believe it is required for some of the distant MPs.

Or have a block of flats/etc based in central London where all the MPs can live whilst in London and when they lose their seat it can be passed on to the newly elected MP for example.

The tories have been neglectful and shocking in almost every area of concern....there, I've said it, but naive of you to think that the SNP wouldn't back Starmer on anything that he wanted to put through....

I never said they wouldn't. Obviously I hope they do. But Starmer has ruled out any kind of coalition or electoral pact, because the SNP would want promises about an independence referendum as the price for that, which he isn't prepared to give.

Means nothing, along with having a weak government we also suffer a truly weak opposition...

I would imagine security would be an issue but not impossible. Could even put them on an army base.

Same with the London based office staff. They could be centrally employed and allocated.
