    Upset hearing this news
From the family of Gordon Banks It is with great sadness that we announce that Gordon passed away peacefully overnight. We are devastated to lose him but we have so many happy memories and could not have been more proud of him.

    How sad!

Probably one of the greatest goalkeepers ever and certainly in the English game. Who hasn't seen that unbelievable save from Pele in the 1970 World Cup when even Pele had to applaud him?

    RIP Banksie.

    Very sad news.

One of the worlds finest goalkeepers, along with the likes of Yashin and Buffon.

As a 17 year old I remember watching the 1966 World Cup Final.

    Thanks for the memories Gordon.

    RIP

I am lucky enough to be old enough to remember watching Gordon Banks, what a player!
When there are players going abroad like Aaron Ramsey for an obscene amount of money, 400 k a week, what would that great man be worth, but in those days they had loyalty and love for the game, today its all about the money.

May you Rest in Peace Banksy

Great England keeper, remember the 1970 World Cup in Mexico well, England got to the quarter-finals, Banksy had stomach craps so Alf Ramsey drafted Peter Bonetti into the side, coasting against West Germany 2-0 until Beckenbauer shot from the edge of the penalty area that bounced under Bonetti and into goal, then pulled it back to 2-2 when Seeler scored a freak backward header, and Muller added the winner in extra time.

I still believe to this day if Banksey had been fit we would have gone on to lift the World Cup again in Mexico.

Great memories back in the day Gordon Banks R.I.P

So, the government(ahem) were going to give Gordon a late knighthood but mislaid the papers(? surely they know whos on the list) and so the chance is gone as you dont become a Sir posthumously.
    Thank u idiots.

This saturday i will pay my respects and i will also say "God bless you" to 2 of his team mates struggling with alzheimers-
    Nobby Stiles and Martin Peters.
