Glad he’s got the assistant he wants instead of having someone chucked on him, good news.

They've made this power play, and it will play out in front of the national media.
If this appointment fails, there will be more than just a few thousand folk in Bradford wondering what's wrong with the club.
Rupp, and by proxy Sparks, will be in the media spotlight from hereon in, and if Hughes were to leave within, say, a year having achieved nothing, you can imagine there will be plenty of coverage about the reasons WHY, and what's really wrong at a club that is languishing so badly at the foot of the EFL.
For Rupp's sake, in particular, this has to work - and with Sparks saying stuff like 'one of the most momentous days in HISTORY', he's obviously toast if this goes wrong - not just here, but his future in football is in jeopardy.
So yeah.
They better back him to the hilt, and keep all their fingers and toes crossed he has the ability to get everything sorted himself.CT Bantam, Ponty City, Onside and 7 others like this. -

Well it's good that Rupp has allowed Hughes to have his own assistant.
Stefan must wonder why he couldn't have done it all himself, like all of our previous successful appointments
Do you think it's finally dawning on the Ding Dong that he hasn't done enough off-the-pitch for his ENTIRE tenure as chairman?bantamdave41, Petrov, Onside and 4 others like this. -

I think Hughes applied, Sparks got excited and wanted him straight away, and Rupp signed it off.
To be fair, I'd have done the same. It's Mark Hughes, he's definitely worth more of a shot than people like Steve Evans and Pete Wild, and if we were getting the cold shoulder from folk like Grant McCann and Darren Ferguson then absolutely I'd jump at the chance of appointing someone so high profile with such huge experience. -

Fantastic appointment imo
About time the manager got his own man. Can’t remember the last one that did?
Let’s hope this is the first of many signs Hughes getting what he wantsPonty City, Inspector, Mason Handshake and 3 others like this. -
Can’t quite put my finger on this just yet. But something is going on for these appointments to be made. So is it Rupp realising his under investment is taking us nowhere or is a new owner in the pipeline. Something doesn’t quite ring true based on the last 4 years. Anyways a fresh start so let’s give it a chance. It will need to be next season now but with a clean slate.................

Especially if you're about to try flog season tickets for next year.
Without doubt Hughes is a big name, its rejuvenated the fans and the attendance tomorrow will show that.
It's what you'd expect from a marketing guy, a masterstroke to some degree, but without wanting to be a partyppoper I'm still not convinced the appointment is anything but a short term injection of hope.TallinnBantam, Briggus, vanginger and 3 others like this. -

Injection of hope, but isn’t this the case for whoever we appointed?
I do kinda get what you mean though but let’s be fair if anyone else in this division had appointed MH I think we’d all be saying why can’t we attract him.
This might not work but I’m far more excited by the prospect than appointing one of the usual league two merry go round of managers.
Let’s be honest, a few days ago we were all voting on Evans, Wellens, Wild etc getting the job. We now have a guy who lets be fair, if Leeds appointed him to try save from relegation then there wouldn’t be an absolute outrage. Support him from the stands and boardroom and let’s see where this journey goes!1975citygent, Briggus, vladimir and 3 others like this. -

I just hope we support Hughes properly. Not open chequebook style, but pushing the boat a little, to actually grow this club and get it moving forwards again.Stop hovering to collapse... Suppose having MT in dugout helps the transition. MH and GH only had a few days training and they need to quickly get up to speed with whats what in this squad.
I like the fact GH has managed AFC Wimbledon and knows these lower leagues. That will stand us in good stead. Very good appointment, thinking about it.

That's why I think everyone needs to get behind this 100 %, give it the best possible chance of working, and not moan and complain if (when) we are still losing games with these terrible players.
I don't think there is a better chance of this working out with people like Rupp & Sparks in charge of the club. I don't see a better option anywhere, now or in the future. There's a case to be made for appointing and gambling on someone younger, moving the club in a more progressive manner, but there's no progression at the club full stop. It's an all-out, total club manager or nothing with these guys. They're not appointing a DoF, they don't think there's a problem.
Fingers crossed.Briggus, vladimir, WilsdenBantam and 1 other person like this. -
I don’t think we’ll see much impact this season - we still have the same players who’ve been poor all season - we might get a result tomorrow but it will be quickly business as usual. He’s not a miracle worker - he can only work with the players he’s given, all distinctly average.
