Good luck to Gary. I was sorry it didn’t work out for him at City, he was a decent guy who “got” what the club is about in my view. Don’t wish him anything but the best.

He definitely didn't "get" the club if he thought he could play that brand of football and everyone is happy.

Poor manager that is only in a managers role thanks to some lunatic chicken farmers.

Yes his brand of football wasn’t the best but his heart was in a good place with fan engagement, and I thought he particularly showed a lot of love during the fire memorials, more so than some other managers. I just thought he seemed like a nice guy and would have a pint with him any time.

Agree. And I'm delighted to see him have success with Dundee.

I thought he was badly treated. Came in and had to do a thankless task and then has a lean run and Rhodes sacks him to buy the fans with his appointment of McCall - which as we know when to well.

We lost a year, because Bowyer simply wasn't backed, because the hierarchy were yellow livered.I'd wager we'd have ended up higher than we did in season ending 2020 and 2021, if he'd been in charge.

Football was terrible. But christ, as some now realise, this is L2.

    Absolute nonsense.

If we hadn't sacked Bowyer attendances would have crashed and the already toxic atmosphere would have become unbearable for everyone connected with the club.

Just because he's won something in a standard that resembles the national League down here doesn't all of a sudden make it a mistake that we removed him from his post.

In spite of promotion he's not well liked at Dundee. Square pegs, round holes, negative tactics, happy with clean sheets. He slagged the fans off last night post match for booing last week after a 0-0 draw at home to Cove...they were awful but he was happy with 0-0. With the players they've got they should have been home and dry a while ago. Regarding the football standard, I'd watch last night's game against Queens Park over some of the crap I watch at VP and on the telly from so called better levels. There's probably less money in the Scottish championship than the top end of the National League, so it is what it is thanks to the TV money which has taken a lot of competition out of football here and up north. Thankfully Scottish football is fairly well supported in terms of % of population, so the disdain for it from south of the border is irrelevant really. The standard reflects the finances, and football, I think is worse for the the way money has ruined the general competitive element

Bowyer has left Dundee this morning, and the fans don't look that bothered, sounds like they knew it was coming. At the minute they've only got 3 contracted players for next season too.

It would have been difficult for anyone in the circumstances but getting rid of Bowyer was always the correct option. The bloke was utterly clueless and played some of the worst football i've ever seen as not just a city fan, but a fan of football in general. Fact that Dundee fans seem bothered about him going speak volumes.

Rumoured to be returning to Blackpool, if true I wouldn't blame the guy.

The away game at Orient still features in my nightmares. We were in a playoff place; they were bottom three on a terrible losing run, with a patched together back four. We set up for a draw from the start. They barely crossed our half way line. The game was there for the taking but instead of bolstering our attack he brought on a defensive midfielder with 20 minutes to go. The very large City away contingent were absolutely seething. 0-0 it was and he seemed pleased about it.
I knew he had to go from that point.

The fans are more worried who they get next, rumours of Callum Davidson who probably won't be too popular with his Perth connections. Things not good at Dundee, an American owner with not much interest and I'm not sure about his finances either. Planning to build a new ground but having to sell up to finance it and groundshare during the development. They've let Dens get into a right old state with no investment and I'm not sure I'd trust the present lot with the plans as they are and a lot of the fans are worried for the club's future. Not a happy place these days unfortunately.

Imagine moving Dens Park, no more of that iconic aerial shot of the two stadiums nearly touching each other.

There were quite a few like that. Remember playing Forest Green where their keeper was literally on the half way line. And i'm not sure i've heard a more toxic atmosphere than away at Field Mill when Mansfield went 3 up in less than half an hour. The players walked about just before kick off and looked scared to actually start the game.
