Games you wish you could have gone to but didn't.

Good post. The Burton away game is the only one I can remember - I’d given my word to go to a christening in the north east.
Cue dozens of texts updates including blatant lies leaving my head all over the shop!

 

The Liverpool game at the end of first year in the Premiership. I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to South America so missed the last two games of the season. Spent the afternoon in a town in the Peruvian jungle desperately trying to find an Internet cafe to check the score.

On the plus side my Grandad got to use my ticket, so it was lovely for him. And fortunately no one on the turnstiles questioned why an 80 year old man was entering on a student ticket.

I gave my 96 play off final ticket to my uncle.
Wolves away like you I'm not sure why we didn't go, really can't understand why we didn't but regret it, even though we had a brilliant day/night watching it and then going out. Ill the next day!!

My wife's best friend decided to marry on the same day, and she was asked to be matron of honour.
I was told it would be so disrespectful not to go to wedding, I very reluctantly agreed to go.
When it came to the speeches, the Grooms brother was an 11th hour best-man as the one originally asked pulled out as he'd gone to Wembley to watch City.
To say I was livid was an understatement, I'm even angry now writing this !!
I should have told them all to do one and gone to the game

Huddersfield at home just before promotion in 1999. We lost 3-2. I had to go to my mother-in-law’s wedding. I was not happy.

Missed out on tickets, put in a complaint on behalf of the Mrs who queued for three hours in the snow, what a farce, the club then offered tickets from part of their own allocation, but we'd already booked to go away by then in reaction to the initial disappointment.

Stood by the decision, and we go and win 4-2!

 

I missed Arsenal, Villa, Cup final, L2 playoff final, Leeds, Chelsea, Sunderland, L playoff final all because I was sat in a radio studio. Do I regret that?....yes. Yes I do.

 

Missed the 3-1 home win versus Villa as I couldn’t get a babysitter!

 

Chelsea away and Leeds at home stick out the most for me, would have loved to have been at both.

 

That Hereford game so I could be one of 10,000 who claim to have been there despite the 1300 or whatever were there and I could act like a self righteous *@?$ all the time like the rest who claim they went.

 

I was convinced we'd win and I had to convince the group to not sell their tickets or those that were writing the money off and not going to go. Didn't take much to be honest, the promise of "tits and beer" at the very least had most turning their heads back again sharpish

 

You'll have been getting very well paid for it .

 

Villa away in league cup. Forced by work to go to London for some team bonding thing, only 5 months before I retired.

 

I missed Chelsea! We had booked a world cruise as a retirement pressie to both of us. We were sailing in the Caribbean when the match was on. We had to watch reports coming in on Sky Sports News.
