Game 17 - Denmark vs Belgium

Yep, 1992. They came second in their qualifying group to Yugoslavia but then the Civil war and breakup of the country saw them excluded and Denmark brought in to replace them. This was when there were only 2 groups of 4 but were expected to be whipping boys as the group was England coming off the 1990 world cup success, A France who were a bit of a transition team with Petite, Blanc and Deschamps were still on the young side but they still had some quality players like Papin, Basile Boli and Cantona and a very good Sweden side with Tomas Brolin leading the line.

Drew with us in the first game, lost to Sweden in the 2nd and then beat France to go through in 2nd place (With England and France going out).

Got Holland in the Semi-Finals who had the likes of Koeman, Danny Blind, Rijkaard, Guillt, Frank de Boer and a certain Dennis Bergkamp. Oh and not forgetting perhaps one the greatest strikers European football has seen in Van Basten. They took a shock lead early Bergkamp Equaliseed about 10mins later before Denmark regained the lead 10 mins later. Rijkaard equalised with 4 mins to take it into extra time and then it went to pens. Schmeichel saved Van Bastens penalty and took Denmark into the final.

In the final Denmark they met Germany (Think it was their first tournament playing as a united country) and Denmark won 2-0 including a super goal from John Jensen which got him a transfer to Arsenal.

The 1990 world cup is the first world cup I remember watching but this is the first Euros
