You know what after the Man City breaking story is it really such a bad thing to be down amongst the lower leagues ............ least it’s honest, least you can have a good old drink with fans who don’t look down at you ...........least your not getting ripped off week by week ..........I know we all want better but I would have our fanbase ( moaning bastards included ME ) over a bunch of clueless twats who don’t really care ............. so Fook it let’s get up for it get into the playoffs and our rise back to the elite begins

good morning and up the effing chickens

If Man City can claim to have a higher revenue than Real Madrid then someone is telling porky pies. No point having an investigation as nothing will happen.

To be fair to Manchester City supporters, I don’t think they, ‘look down at you’ anymore than any other Premier League team. By and large the ones I know are fairly reasonable people, and more of them seem to live in the area, than those of the red persuasion.

Most Bradford City supporters were happy to go along with Richmond, funding the club with borrowed money, which he could not sustain. The difference with Manchester City, is the equivalent of a Major Supermarket chain V a corner shop.

However the way they have ‘perhaps’ used money to propel themselves further than the revenue and assets of the club, is a serious issue. The authorities are slow to ‘react’ and are not proactive, in putting measures in place. I am sure that a couple of the Mods probably have more insight than me.

Finally I love (most of) the banter with fellow City fans and going for a pre match beer.

Richmond could have sustained it had he not got ideas above himself ........... amazing that one of the greatest days in the clubs history ( the Liverpool win ) was the start of our downfall ........... had we lost that day I doubt we would be in the mess we ended up finding ourselves in

The may have in terms of prize money and gate receipts etc ............City in match day revenue probably have more money coming in and we know how much the PL beings in to the coffers compared to the Spanish league .......... still no doubt it will all come out in the end

There are many other clubs out there with financial issues. This report makes for a fairly concerning read. https://www.begbies-traynorgroup.com/news/business-health-statistics/begbies-traynor-red-flag-alert-football-financial-distress-survey-england-1

Recently Leicester City current owner in effect gifted the club £194 million. https://theathletic.com/4146178/2023/02/02/what-leicester-debt-write-off-means-for-the-club/

Closer to home you wonder about clubs with seemingly low turnover i.e. Fleetwood and Forrest Green and where they get sufficient income from to sustain their current positions.

There really needs to be a fully transparent system in place in respect of accounting.

I have always assumed maybe wrongly that PL fiddle the books in some form or another. It will be interesting to see how this pans out, but one thing I am absolutely certain of, nothing will happen that MC can’t cope with. This is about managing the public and fans perceptions.

I’d rather us be higher than league 2 but I have no interest in the PL again tbh only to see us get spanked every week to billionaire clubs, interesting two of my mates are Leeds fans and they weren’t even excited about staying up last season as most people just want to see their team be competitive whichever league it’s in.

It’s not the players(despite what the media says) or fans fault, but the game is more a plastic commodity than anything now. People on social media following ‘brands’ like CR7 over actual clubs, everyone will have their opinion but I don’t like it and I’m glad growing up my dad carried me on his shoulders to my first live football, now I’d be watching on sky and tweeting about someone.

The tv companies and filthy rich have stripped the game of its working class routes. I’m not saying footballers should be on minimum wage, but it’s gone so far the other way it’s unrecognisable. Even in other countries like Brazil with all its poverty, now they watch their stars with cars worth more than their neighbourhoods and fancy teeth.

I hope the authorities ruin Man City I really do, but it’s never going to happen, the owners are too powerful now, slap on the wrist no doubt. At worse it’ll be a points deduction when it’s confirmed they can’t win the league.

Football has boomed in this country because of our great league system the best in the world what Man City and others are doing is in danger of making it even less competitive.
I really miss the time when really well run smaller clubs could win the league and cup competitions

I agree,in the 70s Derby county won the 1st division twice and the likes of Bobby Robsons Ipswich were really close ,no chance of that happening now although Leicester booked the trend in 2015 but that will be a rarity. Sadly the huge money has now spread to the championship and when you look back when City won promotion to the premier league the teams in the 2nd tier had the likes of Stockport, Bury, Crewe,Tranmere as well as the big clubs like WBA and Sunderland, so it’s far more difficult these days for City to compete in the championship where it’s mainly big clubs and huge money.

Well, they couldn't get their super league off the ground but to be honest, the top end of the PL compared to the bottom end is a super league in of itself.

English football has become its own monster that's probably already out of control. He makes some nonsense points, but I've always agreed with Gary Nevilles rants about official adjudicators needed for English football to bring in transparency into football owners and make sure there's guidelines and principles in the sport.

I could see Man City becoming a phoenix club and being set up as a Green Bay Packers type thing.

My old chestnut and once local club Colchester…….were £32 million in debt and apparently it’s all fine and dandy and all above board because someone “ guarantees it” . The one and the same have valued the club at £21m . Trumpian economics? . Yet the EFL let them get away with it
    Makes my pizz boil!

I remember a few years ago reading Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis saying upwards of £50 million had to be injected to keep them in the Championship over the 5 years since City lost the playoff final.
No way would rupp+rahic be able to do this for our club,

Here is an interesting read about Millwall and the Championship clubs finances, scroll down to total debt and there are some eye-watering sums,
Helps if your owners write off such sums

    https://swissramble.substack.com/p/millwall-finances-202122#:~:text=Millwall's%20%C2%A315.6m%20gross,and%20converting%20loans%20into%20equity.

Are City ready for the championship

My thinking is not based on wanting clubs to go out of business but more on the idea that some of the clubs are real community assets that seem to no longer be owned by anyone with a real connection to that community. I also see Newcastle mentioned Tony, that would be another where a community owned entity could work. Anyway, we’ll see where this one goes, probably just a metaphorical slap on the wrist.
