Laura Saunders and Craig Williams must be thick if they knew for certain when the date was going to be and it came from the horses mouth, stick £1k on at least, I would think if as you say the gambling commission call in the fraud squad the sentence won't be based on how much money was laid on the bet.

 

It could be said to be conspiracy to defraud the betting companies. Which , if they have room , could mean jail time. The husband of one of the “ named” has been “ put on gardening leave” today, who just happens to be Sunaks Director of Strategy ( or similar) . Crazy crazy desperate people.

 

Now there is I assume4 a Met officer who looks after Sunik being investigated for putting a bet on, you have to wonder where/who he got his insider info from.

Surprise, surprise. He’s the one known suspect in this ‘insider’ betting scam who has been arrested and suspended. In sharp contrast to the several Tory election candidates who’ve been allowed to stay in the race until the Betting Commission investigation is completed.
As with Partygate, it’s one rule for the plebs and another for seniorTories.
It’s standard practice in every branch of public services to immediately suspend anyone under investigation for Gross Misconduct, which this certainly is. Another example of pathetically weak leadership from Sunak.

 

Yes 3 more weeks and we'll see what the Messiah that is Keir Starmer is made of, if as predicted Labour get a massive majority let's not hear any excuses going forward, Labour can basically do as they want.
Many will say don't go raking over old ground but even after 13 years under Blair and Co I want labour to have an independent inquiry into the "Orgreave" debacle and how those miners were treated..

Keir Starmer is no one’s idea of a messiah. But he, and the group of working class senior shadow ministers he has around him (Streeting, Reeves, Raynor, McFadden) are serious, diligent, competent people who are a sharp contrast to the lightweights and chancers who’ve been running the country for years. If elected, they’ve got a very big task to repair the damage of the last fourteen years but I’m confident that they’ll do a decent job of it.

Yes, I know, it’s in The Guardian, but it’s not an opinion piece, it’s simply a statement of facts. I must admit that I hadn’t realised that the Shadow Cabinet actually has far more Cabinet experience than the current shower of no hopers and chancers.
This hopefully means that they will avoid one of the pitfalls of the Blair government, which was full of rookies and took far too long to start getting to grips with making changes. A Starmer government, if elected, should be much better able to hit the ground running.
