Who remembers helping mum bring the old tin bath in that was usually hung up outside the house ready for all the family to get their weekly bath, kids first then to bed followed by mum and dad, come on own up.

haha, i remember having a bath in front of the fire as a kid when we lived next to Valley Parade in the mid seventies, and an outside toilet too. We had a piss bucket at the top of the stairs for the middle of the night, think my little brother knocked it over one night and it all cascaded down the stairs!!

guider, I had a good one.

What about putting a book on
your roller skate and charging down the road sitting on it.

Lived near crossleys scrapyard in Shipley and used to go and scrounge pram axles and build a"bogy". If you got silver cross wheels with ball bearings we were like stunt men

I’m not as old but I went to USA in 1978 when I was 12 and came back with a very quick skateboard.

England hadn’t really started the craze to the same extent and English ones were quite poor quality.
Mine had the best wheels, bearings etc.
Used to put a stick across, dit on it and fly down the streets.

Went through what seemed like a pair of shoes a week due to having to put feet down to stop.

Aye and a single gas cooker at the top of the cellar steps. Brucie bonus, I could touch the back wall of the Bradford End after 50 strides!

Ah yes the skateboard. Tearing down Cornwall Road with a Beano annual laid on top of a roller skate . Just hope there are no cars coming along Midland Rd!

Talking about cars as a young un we all had little books we used to copy "car numbers" in we'd sit at the top of Barkerend Fold where we lived watching cars going up and down Barkerend Road, you'd sit there hours and sometimes not realised you'd written the same car number down twice there were so few cars on the road, we were the same when the snow came sledging down Harewood Street which was one continuous long steep hill, trouble was walking back up to go again.
