This squad will need a massive overhaul for league two. If we don’t, then we’ll be much nearer the bottom than the top.

Hopefully O’Donnell stays. I think Wood will only continue to improve so left back should be set. I could see Paul Caddis coming in and being steady enough for that league. We’ll need two centre backs. Jim O’Brien will hopefully stick around - I think he’d be fine in league two. But that’s about it. Two strikers, a midfielder, two wingers and two centre backs. I reckon that’s what we need.

 

Confidence is not a permanent condition, so even accepting our forwards had chances we have to take any positives we can from the game.
According to Pulse the same channel you were listening too we battered them second half and if not for their goalkeeper we would have won easily, so lets not knock the result, the conditions were atrocious for both sides but we are in the draw on Monday night that is all that counts.

 

Was it the keeper though?

We don’t create many chances but the ones we do, Miller and Doyle fluff regularly.

 

Have a look at this short video https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/46163634 I'd say their keeper kept them in the game, but yes we did not help ourselves when in front of goal.

 

We need better upfront that's for sure I didn't go today but a friend of mine who is based at barracks that way did (not a city fan by the way) but reckons 2nd half their keeper kept them in it although he does say Doyle missed 2 absolute sitters.

 

Agree with all the comments above and if Julian happens to read this, I will only attend the replay if it's a quid to get in.

 

He’s right. Doyle did miss two sitters, though the header in the second half was offside I think.

In Doyle I think we have a player capable of scoring goals at this level. Just think his supply and the we way we play isn’t right and also he’s massively low on confidence. Anyone watching him for the first time today would say he was poor. I’m confident there’s goals in him.

 

Absolutely shocking reaction from the team after NKP scores. Didn't look like anyone was that bothered.

 

Gotta say it Ricky ........ Doyle and others are desperately clinging on to past achievements and reputations.

This lot may well reflect on that, as they too become OOC players, that nobody is in a rush to sign.

Agree but this is not even an average L2 side and there is absolutely no way we could ever begin to seriously tackle such level with this feeble group of players.

Once we are finally put out of our misery and consigned back to L2 (and we will be!) it's going to require a complete overhaul from back to front to give us any chance at all of averting even further descent into the football abyss!

 

Wow. The state of the pitch is ridiculous, we should take this result with a pinch of salt after seeing that.

If that’s not a waterlogged pitch then I’ve no idea what is. In many ways, it was ridiculous to let the game continue.

Going by that vid I’d say most of what their keeper did was pretty standard. More a case of poor finishing really. Doyle’s first chance is a good one - it’s a soft strike and straight at the keeper. The header was probably harder than it looked but he still should’ve done better.

Awful conditions though so it’s hard to judge too harshly. On the plus side we tried to play, even on that pitch. We’ve created a few openings, it looks like the spirit and effort was good, which is a plus.

My biggest worry for us is defensively though. We’re so soft centred it’s untrue. Look at their first chance and how easily he gets in. And the goal is abysmal marking from a set piece.

Sorting the defence has to come first. Caddis might help. But we desperately need at least one centre back. Now.

 

As a previous poster said "The pitch today was a leveller. " Yet a Team way below our level, coped in the same way City did. So you have have to ask .......... What is OUR accepted standard ? Aldershot stepped up, as City fell down !!

 

TBH F B - Had it not been against Aldershot, and all the Military preparation behind it ......... I doubt the game would even have kicked off. I like to think the REF is the most relieved man to see a Draw as the outcome.

 

I'm not sure you understand the concept leveller.
