Her poor grasp of the English Langauge is something that I think people could get over if she was more natural in front of the camera. There are parts of presenting that you can learn through experience but one of the most important parts of presenting is natural charisma as that helps it feel natural and that's something you can't really learn, you have it or you don't. If you don't it comes across wooden and hard to watch.

The Olympics actually highlighted this. The two big shows the BBC had was Olympic Breakfast and Today at the Games. Both had an experienced presenter (Dan Walker for Breakfast, Claire Balding for Today) coupled with an inexperienced ex-sports star (Sam Quek for Breakfast and Alex Scott for Today). Now Sam Quek has the lower experience of the two but she was really good on Breakfast, she was natural, enthusiastic and easy to watch. Alex Scott still comes across uncomfortable on camera, everything feels forced and as such its just not an enjoyable watch.

Now I know the BBC along with others are trying to increase diversity but this attempt to force it isn't good for anyone. If people don't have the natural ability no matter how much you try and force it they are unlikely to ever be good. And then in reflects badly on the 'minority group they represent, people get annoyed because often to get the job someone better is being forced out and it makes any hire from these groups seem like wokeness rather than because they have something about them. Rather than picking someone and trying to force them into a thing they need to be trialling more people from diverse groups and finding those with real potential and then working on honing them as they are without a doubt missing out on potentially good presenter focusing on trying to make bad ones good

Ultimately with Alex Scott, she may know her stuff and be more prepared than the likes of Micha Richards who is a bit of a Buffoon BUT but he is more natural and his weakness are things that can be honed unlike hers so ultimately he is more likely to be a better presenter than she ever will be

(Jenes is another person who keeps having presenting jobs thrust on him who lacks the charsima to be good at it)

I disagree. I think Jermaine Jenus is really good.

Like Alex Scott he is well prepared but he is just so beige. It's less of a problem as a pundit if you have a big character next to him but as a host he is just too bland

His analysis and insights are good. I'm more interested in that than 'character'.

TV is entertainment though and as such you need to engage the audience. There needs to feel some enthusiasm and passion to do that. Alex Scott is also knowledgeable and well researched but she isn't engaging

And like Alex Scott he isn't just being thrust into pundit roles, he is being put into hosting roles and not just sport but light entertainment

Gary Linekar was as wooden as a tree when he first started and now he's a natural.

He is also vastly overpaid by the BBC who pay mediocre talent millions while threatening pensioners with Jail for not been able to pay the fee to watch the rubbish

I was just thinking about when Lineker started, jeez it was painful. I kept expecting him to say "I got this from Shackletons you know". Still, as Hoochy said above, he sounds like a natural now.
