Due to a number of reasons and a mix of apathy I've lost touch with matters down at VP. In light of possible returns to VP in the foreseeable can someone fill me in on the following:

    - Who are the players this season who deserve to be cut some slack considering our horrendous form?
    - Who are the culprits. I know this board loves a scapegoat?
    - What is the main cause for our disappointing start to the season?
    - Are there any positives?

Back to where we were at the start of the decade by the looks of things. Grim!

    1) Anthony O’Connor and Reece Staunton are the only ones I would keep.

    2) Donaldson is way past it. He’s slow, moves little, does nothing but use up a space on the pitch. Guthrie is not the level of a professional footballer. He belongs in the NL at the very best. O’Donnell is far too error prone and has been for years, we need confidence to breed from the Keeper to the back line and we don’t have it. Those 3 for me.

    3) Our squad is simply not good enough. Boils down to recruitment which has been shocking and that’s an understatement.

    4) Reece Staunton breaking through. He’s nowhere near the finished article but he’ll come on leaps and bounds.

I’d add Watt, Wood, Sikora, Scales and FCD to those to keep, some as squad players and Hosannah to try to get on loan again. AOC is the best defender we have but I’d show him the door too. That’s it.

    See below:

    - Who are the players this season who deserve to be cut some slack considering our horrendous form? - Hosannah has been one of very very few positive moments. Watt on the most part has been ok and Clarke has surprised me with his influence on some games. That said, it’s a team game and on the most part we’ve been very much below standard. So as the saying goes ‘win together, lose together’ - no one should escape scrutiny at present.
    - Who are the culprits. I know this board loves a scapegoat? - All
    - What is the main cause for our disappointing start to the season? - How long you got? Poor recruitment. Poor squad. Poor management. Poor structure. Poor ambition. Poor strategy.
    - Are there any positives? - I really really really hope this doesn’t come back to haunt me, however there looks to be at least two worse teams in the league than us. Oh, and there’s way more to life than the consistent disappointment of your football club.

I don't really think there is a scapegoat this season.

Most can plainly see that when we're losing 3-0 it's for a variety of reasons all across the pitch.

There's a bit of a noise around O'Donnell, but we're not losing because O'Donnell has made a few questionable mistakes - we've been thrashed twice lately, and replacing the keeper wouldn't make a jot of difference in either performance.
