    At the moment?

It's always been the case that many fair and reasoned appraisals have been rubbished and laughed off as negative, even if the vast majority have ultimately been proven to be correct down the years.

    Well that's true.

I think some assume that if we sign a player, we've signed them because the manager thinks they're ideal.

It's more likely, especially at this level, that we've signed the best known available player within budget - which could be Adams' sixth, seventh, eighth, or greater choice. In which case I don't think Adams will lose any sleep if they're not the next Pélé, as long as he's got some cover - seems some put too much stock in actually getting a deal over the line as a mark of absolute confidence from the gaffer.

The small budget works at a small club for some managers.
Im suggesting that might not be the case here.
Small budget brings in lesser quality players who once they step out on the pitch could freeze.
lesser quality players in the surroundings of a Forest Green or Morecambe never feel overrawed.
Was like that at Spurs with the likes of Bergwjin and Lo Celso and Regullion.
    Mediocre players who were cheap.
Even Mourhino's so called magic couldn't change that.

The thing is that everyone has a right to have an opinion. Sometimes that opinion turns out to be right, other times not. Not a matter of sitting on fence fannies but at the moment none of us know how the season is going to pan out. We await it with hope, some of us with optimism and others not so sure. We have to remember we are a 2nd division club and players who can play at a higher level are likely to be doing so on higher than div 2 wages.

Liked and agree with your post. Re my previous post replying to Tolly, I was being facetious about not being sure about sitting on the fence. Oh well, I'll get my coat...

Never heard of him but his name is going to give our fans plenty of fun on the radio phone ins. Some couldn’t even get Hopkin right! Let’s hope he’s a big, solid unit, anyway.

Think this sort of player was exactly what we needed. Whilst I would like us to bring on Foulds, Staunton and Sikora, if we have injuries to both Paudie and Canavan we would suddenly have two short, inexperienced players at centre back - whatever their quality as footballers they'd get mullered at this level without a big bugger of a centre back alongside them to win the aerial stuff

Plenty stocked, and I agree, plenty of time for the young lads to break through on merit, what we don't need is to heap a ton of pressure on them by relying on them from the off.

He did well at Plymouth. Arguably they are very similar to us

After tonight's game one thing is for certain,
we've not had as vocal a player since
    Gary Jones.
He never stopped shouting and organising, great to hear.

It doesnt matter how good or how crap you are at football, communication is the easiest part of football and any player can do it.

Baffling that we have been short changed on vocal players these last 4/5 years. It really is basics.

I wouldn't say its the "easiest" part of football. It takes a good reading of the game to communicate correct and timely info to your fellow players, plus also confidence and respect from your team mates. Perhaps that's what's been wrong with our team for the past 4/5 years. We've all been saying that we're missing a leader on the pitch. The fact that the armband has been passed around (and in some cases, thrown around), I think indicates that we haven't had many players who want to take control of the game and the team. Conor Coady is an absolute text book case of a player that communicates to his team mates, who in turn respect and listen to him.
