    All this talk of keepers going on forever made me wonder who my personal favourite was. It's a close run thing between Peter Downsborough and Paul Tomlinson. Whose yours ?

    Favourite keeper Tomlinson - may not have been the best we’ve had but was to me as a 9 year old.
    Best keeper would be one of Clarke or Schwarzer.

    Walsh or Schwarzer for me.

    had some good ones since. Clarke for that season. Henderson and Ricketts had their moments of brilliance too.

    Recent years have been questionable…..

    My memory might be failing me but I seem to remember Steve followed Peter Downsborough, we bought him from Birmingham City. Then Neil Ramsbottom followed Steve.That was when we originally had our new home kit.

    Eric McManus was the first keeper I really remember.
    Mark Schwarzer and Gary Walsh were top drawer.

    But would say Matt Clarke was my favourite

    For entertainment value undoubtedly Donovan Ricketts, twice MLS goalie of the year. Good in his first season, but then increasingly ricket prone!

    Peter Downsborough has to be right up there, remember back in the day goal keepers were allowed to be challenged for the ball, I say challenged it was more like GBH at times, modern day keepers aren't under the same physical contact.
    Dave Basset took Hendrie out with a shocking challenge, needless to say Big Bobby reciprocated later in the game, Basset knew what was coming just a matter of when.

    To be fair he was pretty good however raw but , erratic as he is now. As for being the best….not for me.

    Pickford falls into the same category as Mark Schwarzer for me, you could see they were both going to play at the top level but did not play enough games for Braford City to quote the best IMO.

    I seem to remember Clegg did ok in that game.
    For me it's Peter Downsborough. My first keeper hero was Pat Liney but Downsborough was cracking.
